Hey Y'all!
What's up everyone? Here's to the start of a new week 👣. Today I've got a landscape painting for you, a simple little scene showing a road on a hill.

The inspiration for this one came from a picture I took while sitting in traffic on the freeway. I glanced over at the side of the highway and there was this nice little scene, the perfect reference opportunity. So I took a pic with my phone and saved it for this.
There's inspiration almost everywhere, just gotta keep the right frame 🖼 of mind.
For this painting used flat brush (real). I selected colors for the palette, some cool green and blue colors, along with some warmer yellow/brown colors to balance the cool colors.
I made a sketch, then I painted each section on its own layer. For example, the sky on one layer, the foreground on another layer, and so on. That way, I could more easily apply lights and shadows on separate layers at a later stage.
At that point everything was pretty much filled in, so it was time to adjust the saturation, brightness, and contrast because my original palette seemed overwhelming. Next, I added the layers for highlights (blending mode: lighten) and shadows (blending mode: darken) for each area, like sky, foreground and so on. Finally, I made some last minute adjustments to the trees in the foreground.
And there we have it, a painting of a road on a hill.
