Hi Everyone!
Hello Sketchbook community, and welcome back to emanate artworx. This time I want to share a sketch I made using an app called Magic Poser for the reference.
Simple Portrait of a Girl
Emanate Artworx / SCAB
1536x2048
Made with IbisPaint X, ver.9.4.10
Inspiration
This app is very useful for proportions and anatomy reference. I first heard about Magic Poser from @solumviz, who is quite good at creating dynamic and eye catching figures. Drawing from life is best, but obviously not always practical in every situation. It's great to have options like Magic Poser to help.
For this sketch, I used the model called "Lina", which was a free download within the app. She has an anime type look, with large eyes and a small nose and mouth. The hair is a super long ponytail with bangs, and it's the first hairstyle of 3 from the "Hair" menu that comes up when the figure's head is selected.
My last post, Portrait Heidi , was a 7/8 angle portrait, which was challenging because I'm not used to sketching that view. But with more practice and better references, I believe it will become easier to get the different angles and perspectives right.
Reflection
Now, I don't draw anime, usually I use a more realistic style, so for this sketch I used the figure just as a guide and didn't keep the anime proportions entirely. The end result turned out cute and I like it! I will definitely utilize this app again in my future works. š¤©
I also really like how Magic Poser lets you change every position of the body and the direction of the light source. The sky is the limit as far as how many ways to pose your figure, so you can really let your imagination loose. Making this simple portrait of a girl wasn't so hard because the reference was better. Well also because it's from the side profile view, not 7/8 lol.
These days I've been quite busy with my day job, so I want my artistic sessions to be as efficient as possible! Who has time to erase, start over, go back, repeat, hem-haw, blah-blah-blah? As with other endeavors in life, art should be decisive, imo. ā³ļø
