Hey everyone,
I hope you are all doing great! The last week I was busy working on a new fashion project for my college. The concept of the project was to visit a museum of our city and get inspired by any exhibit in order to sketch two outfits. For the final outfits we should use and combine four different materials. Leather, lace, suede and denim.
I visited the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art, there were some big collections of many different artist and also five photography exhibitions. What draw my attention and inspired me the most to create my project was two sculptures of a woman artist called Niki de Saint Phalle. Sculptures represent "Adam & Eve" and they are massive and colorful.
I made a collage of ideas and inspirations before start drawing. I focused on the oversized line on my outfits inspired by the massive size of the sculptures and I also adopted their beautiful pastel colors. I also inspired by some fashion styles like cyberpunk and pastel punk. I used some photos from pinterest of pastel outfits compinations and accessories.
[I do not own any of the collage photos. I downloaded them from different sources of pinterest.]
I started doing some quick sketches while trying to keep the same oversized line on my outfits. I had in mind making one outfit with a top and a denim pant and another one with a coat and a denim pant. My final outfits had to have the same element and style and also I had to use four specific materials.
When I decided about my final outfits I started giving shape to my clothes until I reached the desired result. The new challenge I had to face was to use my new alcohol markers to fill the drawings. I had many years to use markers cause I basically used to sketch digitaly, and it took me some time to get familiar with the technique but at last I loved them. Trust me it is a super satisfying process playing with them.
Here are my final outfits fully colored. The first one is an oversized leather coat with a leather belt and decorative stripes that fall of the sleeves. There are also lace details at the neck and suede details on the sleeves. It is combined with a wide-leg denim pant and high heeled flat shoes.
The second outfit is a leather crop top with decorative leather stripes and suede details on the sleeves. It is combined with a leather tight skirt which seems like garter belt and hold two denim leg parts.
Here are the fabrics that I decided to use for my outfits and the lace I designed. I loved the fabrics/colors I chose and the only "difficult" part for me was the lace. It's a fabric which I personaly don't like and never wear so it was kinda hard for me to put on the outfit and match it with the other materials.
That's all about my project guys, it went pretty good and my teachers gave me possitive feedback. I hope you enjoyed my post and my designs, please let me know your opinion.😸
Stay possitive! 😃
