It is the end of an era! 🥲 Attack on Titan has finally ended (both in manga and anime). 10+ years of hard work and dedication of Hajime Isayama so props to you, man. In a letter, he said sorry to MAPPA for the extra work of making the scenes, in fact, Isayama helped them do the drafting for the last half of the ending episode.
I just finished watching the last episode last night and we cried a river. It was not the scenario that I wanted to but I think it is the perfect way to end the story. Hmm, a lot of fans are not happy with how it ended, including my friends! 😆 But it is what it is.
I looked for Eren and Mikasa references on Pinterest. I want them together in one frame with the red scarf on them. I want a happy expression on both of the characters unlike in the last episode. I used a soft brush for the line. I usually use this for quick sketches.
I cannot help myself but draw fan art for the two main characters, Eren and Mikasa. Eren became cold-hearted towards Mikasa and the rest of his friends in the last episodes because he intentionally did that to hate him. What broke my heart was him telling Mikasa that he hated her so much. 🥲 Though Mikasa was hurt by Eren's words, she still loves him. Later on, Eren reveals to Armin that he does not like Mikasa to be with someone else. He wants her to remember him.
I applied the base colors color-picked from the original characters. I want to apply a darker red shade for the scarf. I just knew that Mikasa's hair had an undertone of blue. 🙂 I then added another layer for the shadowings.
There was a lot of foreshadowing throughout the last episodes. The foreshadowing can be as far as the first episode. It is too much to write in this blog, hehe. 😆
The scene that really pierced my heart was when Eren and Mikasa were at the top of the hill with a cabin. I assume they are married at this point. They are living peacefully, away from the chaotic titan world. How I wish they stayed like this forever. 🥲❤️🩹
Back in the real world, Mikasa decided to kill Eren. At the moment Mikasa decapitated Eren, you can see how beautiful Mikasa is in Eren's eyes. 😭 That was the only moment Eren raised his head, to see Mikasa one last time. Mikasa then kissed Eren (Yes, decapitated head). Their first and last kiss.
Final Art
Finally, I added some glow on the face and on the hair. I added some noise monochrome for texture.
This is how I interpret the ending scene during the credit roll
War will be forever. It will stay even after the Titans. The HUMANS will still fight, create chaos, destroy the world, etc. It is a cycle after all. I think humans are selfish and destructive. Humans are in nature the destroyers, not titans, advanced weapons, or superpowers. In the credits, after thousands of years, we can see the advancement of the world. High skyscrapers, planes, etc. still, war is inevitable.
A boy with a dog investigated the tree where Eren was buried. Remember where Ymir found the founding titan? Yep, it was inside of a big tree. The boy represents that history will again repeat itself... 🥺
