There is nothing to do today, so I opened my favorite drawing software!
I should be running some errands today, but it is too cold.
I prefer to be indoors instead. So, today's blog is about trying new tool and art style. As I mentioned over and over, I am still looking on what art style should I go for, or should I say, I want to master.
This time, I am trying the anime style using g-pen. I do not use g-pen often. I usually use a flat brush.
By the way, how is your day so far? 😌
I am going for an anime art style specifically like this and this. I think this is called manhwa (???) I am not sure. But I want mine to be a bit anime-ish.

So, I started looking for reference pose. There are a lot of poses, but for now, I will just draw the simple one. I will ditch hand gestures for now, and want to focus on the over all coloring and lineart. I am still stuck at line art, though. There are still a lot to learn.
I simply draw the shapes to guide the proportion of the head. Look at the ear difference. I think I spent five minutes redrawing that damn ear. 🤣 There will be a lot of adjustments later on.
On the next frame, I then did the line art. As I mentioned above, I used a g-pen this time. I actually am liking for this pen! 😌 I might use and practice this over time. I adjusted some properties in settings to match my drawing speed.
I choose yellow for the eyes, like my cat Night. I was thinking, if Night was a human, this can be him. Heheh~
I chose a blue-ish black for the hair. Yeah, bearly noticeable. Black again for the clothing. I chose a neutral brown for the background.
I added another layer for the black gradient on the background, and then airbrush around the character.
It's shading time! What is the most boring part of drawing to you? 🤣 Hmm, for me is the coloring of the base color in general. I find shading interesting because it makes the art 3D-ish because of the shadows and blending.
For the hair, I used three shades of dark blue. One for the base, one lighter, and one darker. I freaking forgot the highlight of the hair! Ugh. I just realized now! 🤣
In this art, I simply put the shadings on parts that I think are the most corners. Blurring also helps in making the shadow soft-looking.
FINAL ART!!!
Tadaaa! I put some sun rays for the ✨glow✨. It touches the skin so I added a hint of orange. So obsessed with putting cross earrings in my art, especially for male characters. 🤣
Conclusion:
I am starting to be a fan of g-pen UwU. I find it easier to make thick and thin lines. Also, when using this pen, there is no pressure in making clean art. I honestly like the "messy" art style compared to the clean, cell-shadowed ones. I will continue to use this pen and art style! 😍
