Hello again. I have another wonderful paint-along to share with you all. This is another portal with
Joni Young Art-FANTASY GARDEN 🌸 STEP BY STEP PAINTING TUTORIAL.
She uses very expensive and glossy paints, so I know going in that my paints are not going to match hers. But, I try anyway.
I had a lot of fun painting with Joni. She is a very fast painter, as she publishes new projects everyday. I wish I had time to do them all. For some reason I am drawn to her portals.
We begin by adding the many different colors needed for the sky background. Joni likes to use very bright colors, so I try to use my fluorescents and brighter tones.
We use dabs of paint on the canvas to paint the first layer, and then blend in a white to make it softer; establishing the position of the sun. We then began filling in the grasses on each side with a dark green.
We added lighter green strands of grass, and then began forming the main white flower clusters. I added a lot of white flowers because I also wanted to use them for the base of my colors.
(Painting a white or grey primer under your colors will help them pop.)
I am still learning to make grass. It seems such a easy concept to swipe the paint upwards... The other day, another painter suggested making a circle motion instead. This will help the grass look arched.
I will be doing a paint along with him next, here is the link if you'd like to paint along with me- KevinOilPainting- Willow Tree Sunlight Landscape Painting.
We dabbed in the flowers with many different colors. Then we shaded in some white in the center to help push the focus off of the background flowers.
We added some dark purple to the bottom and began creating a path backwards. We again filled in the sides of the path by adding grass and flowers.
On each side of the path, we added little fairy portal glowing with the inner light. We added some steps coming down from the portal, and outlined the opening with vines and flowers.
I went on adding grass, leaves and flowers until I felt it looked good, and then called it done.
I really liked the way it turned out!
I hope you are enjoying following along as I learn to paint.
