This post is to let off some steam, these have been difficult days, it is a bit sad to see how nowadays people don't keep their words. You may say that if you are a lawyer you know that everything must be in writing, no, not necessarily, although there are solemn contracts that must comply with certain formalities for their validity, there are contracts that do not merit it and today I am not only talking about the legal world, I am talking about keeping the word in all aspects of life. If you said you were going to arrive at a certain time, do it, if you said you were going to deliver a job at a certain time, do it or say that you will not be able to do it, but don't lie, sometimes it is not even lying, it is misrepresenting situations. I suppose this is associated with the lack of values of the society in which I live, but I don't understand how this kind of people can sleep at night, or on the contrary I think this because I have certain values?
I have also been questioning lately the fact of being "good", maybe the social convention nowadays is not to have a word and by keeping your word you are completely wrong, because everyone expects the worst from people. But no, I don't think that's the right thing to do. Both morally and religiously, even if we are talking about karma, it is best to stick to the truth.
I like to believe that the best way to live is as the Romans did with these three principles: Live honestly, do no harm to others and give to each his due. If you analyse them well, you will realise that they are applicable to any religion or are applicable to a secular life.
What is your opinion? Should we be like Hobbes and think that "Man is a wolf to man" and always expect the worst if we have no means of coerciveness and/or coercion to quell it? Or that we should keep faith in humanity because there are more of us good guys?
Here are some pictures of a dandelion I came across a few days ago on my way to work, thank you for coming here, I hope you enjoyed reading it.
