It's a BIG day today, cos I reached a personal goal: to have a Hive stake of 10,000 HP.
I started on then-steem-now-Hive in February 2018 with 3 simple goals in mind:
- to earn enough cryptocurrency to be able to buy a piece of land for my social enterprise herbal project (WITHOUT the need for bank finance) when the next big crypto pump came;
- to learn about using cryptocurrency so I can (eventually) use it in the unbankable refugee communities I work with in Thailand and Burma;
- to be part of the change to web 3.0 as part of the New Paradigm world which is energing and being co-created everyday. Decentralized and free speech are MUST have in a peace-full, fairer world.
I started on Steem shortly after the dizzying heights of $8.17/steem. And I KNOW from my crypto study and a LOT of reading that the next serious bull run will take it beyond $8.
So what does 10,000 HP mean?? It means (at a Hive price of $8) about USD 80,000 which means about 2.6 million Thai baht. Is more than enough to buy 5 acres of pristine land in the mountains along the Thai-Burmese border for my herbal teaching center, refugees training project and some off-grid eco-community living. Finance free, debt free, independent, self-sovereign.
So my next goals are around helping to grow and market Hive in the bestt ways I know how, to support, enable and sustain the bull when he runs.
I personally don't think that will be till 2nd quarter 2021 and I meanwhile I am focused on:
- maintaining a great posting habit;
- supporting newbies beyond the initial onboard - hence my personal curation project @artemisshares;
- Being a bridge builder - between communities and between platforms & networks;
I'm working HARD on Hive Marketing with @traciyork, @stellabelle, @nathanmars and a great team of others to BUILD the reach of the #HIVE tag in the cryptosphere and support onboarding.
I will be hosting my first #hivechat next Tuesday 18th August at 12.00 GMT on twitter - please come and give me some PERSONAL support with retweeting and great question responses!
What mistakes did I make early on?
- didn't post consistently enough;
- got too involved in the in-community squabbles and issues and occasionally lost sight of the long-game, big picture;
- posted too narrowly around only a small interest set, which limited my audience;
- too shy to try video;
- too shy to ask how to do things;
- didn't bang my own drum hard enough and let others take credit for my efforts and ideas.
WHAT has REALLY HELPED ME in my #hive journey?
- Being a great commenter;
- always upvoting comments on my own blogs - I learned that on Day #1 from @kenistyles and it has served me well - builds loyal followers. The ENGAGE token has helped this enormously too - thank you @abh12345;
- Having a really clear idea of what I want to say, generally, long term, and WHY I'm blogging;
- vocalizing my posts to myself (usually while driving) to clarify my thoughts before I ever begin a post;
- having a posting schedule with literally dozens of ideas, images, half-completed posts etc - it keeps my blog fresh and makes it much easier to post;
- using twitter to connect with the other go-getters on Hive - have found the discord mindset of endless chatter but not a lot of posting and post-comment rather destructive for growth on Hive;
WHO has REALLY HELPED ME in my #hive journey?
@kenistyles has been both an inspiration and an amazing teacher - I'm gutted he's not using #Hive right now but hope he will return;
@samstonehill has been a superb role model, of someone doing his own thing, year in year out - he was one of the first people I followed;
@kennyskitchen and @abundance.tribe have believed in, and supported me solidly, since the curation project started - and it has enabled so much growth. Thank you. 😘;
@riverflows and @naturalmedicine have taught me so much;
@eco-alex and @ecotrain helped me find my curating feet, a lot of confidence and were incredibly supportive.
@richardcrill helped me to find new visions of freedom;
@minismallholding has, lately, been a guide and an inspiration with her quiet role modeling and phlegmatic, calm approach.
I am grateful.
The next 6 months?
- I intend to exchange half of my HBD every week and start working towards my first whole bitcoin;
- I intend to keep up my strong powering up habit - as Covid19 is brought under some control in Asia and my Pure Thai Naturals Co Ltd business income is returning, I hope to be able to not take ANY HBD out and to convert/power up to the max. powering up all HP continues;
- I hope to start a regular Chiang Mai, Thailand Hive Meet-Up group, as flights start and people return.
Thanks for sharing this milestone!!
Please - no flowers or personal gifts!! 🤣 😜 If you like what I do, what would make me seriously happy is if you would consider adding @artemisshares to your autovote for just 1 post/day, or delegating some HP to that account. So I can help support and bring up that lower strata of Hive users, one day and one post at a time.
