Lockdown fucking sucks for a shit ton of reasons that I'd rather not get into but a very tiny silver lining is that we get Wednesdays and Saturdays to move around and give the non-poor people the opportunity to fill up their refrigerators with food and all that necessary shit.
For people like me, Wednesdays and Saturdays represent a great day to get away from home and just see society. This Wednesday(yesterday), I made up my mind to pay a friend of mine a visit, and hopefully have a few drinks in the process.
I got all dressed up and by 10 am, I was ready to embark on this adventure
I hopped on a bike, which is the normal mode of transport around here to the bus stop where I was supposed to get a bus that would take me on a 40 minutes trip to complete the first half of the trip.
I got to the bus stop and it was a clusterfuck of gargantuan proportion, I mean Jupiter sized. There were people lined up as far as my eyes could see and only a few busses. Whenever the bus finally stops, Darwinism kicks in and it is survival of the fittest to get a seat.
I count myself as a fit person, and I reckon I'd outmuscle a lot of the people I saw there but it just isn't worth the stress. After standing for 20 minutes hoping that the crowd would reduce, I lost interest in going and used the transport money to buy Eba and Gbegiri at a clandestine restaurant we call a "Yoruba restaurant" around the bus stop.
I finished my meal and kind of enjoyed the soup despite being yellow. I honestly don't feel comfortable eating meals that are yellow because, you know, yellow. I like to think we all have that colour of food that fucks with you.
So I got done with the food and got on a bike that took me straight back to my place that finally got electricity after three long days of misery
After considering over 14 million possibilities, the final deduction is that food is more important than all your plans.
Oh well, life goes on, and on the bright side, I spent less than I would have on transportation because the price of that shit doubled.
