There's really no place like home, but sometimes, you have to get out of your comfort zone to have a better appreciation of the said comfort zone. So, yesterday I decided to pay my friend a visit at the other side of town. The 40-minute commute from Mando to Barnawa feels like travelling between different states, more so because of the differences in lifestyle at both ends; my end is more rural, while around here, it is modern in the loose sense.
The best part about this part of town is that alcohol is readily available and a lot cheaper than it is at my end. Other positives about this visit are that there are a few hours more electricity, and free food. The downside is that I have to work in a different office and I now remember how this shit can be annoying.
Borrowed office I'm currently using
This office is different in a mildly bad/discomforting way that often slows down my internetting activities. Compared to My home office below, you can see some minor differences that go a long way in affecting my productivity.
Well, some of the issues with the borrowed office are unavoidable; the office is congested because there was already a bunch of shit on it and now my own shit joins the fray. Evident in the fact that this office already houses a laptop, a bunch of books and this very creepy purse for pens and pencils.
I think the most annoying part of this office is the seat. It is considerably lower than the table, so I strain my shoulder while typing on my laptop. My home office has a higher seat and lower table, so when I type, my shoulder is almost aligned horizontally with the table.
It is not all bad though, because like I said, in this part, alcohol is cheaper. I get to have even more supply of cheap alcohol, and even though I invariably spend less time on my system due to disturbances from the other occupants of the house, I still generally enjoy the experience of being here.
Sometimes it's actually good to get away from home, and just immerse yourself in new forms of comfort/discomfort. At the end of the day, you'll end up appreciating your boring old personal life more when you realise it isn't perfect anywhere, and that you should be contented with what you have because that's the easiest route to happiness.
