Well that all depends on why you’re here.
If you’re here to make a quick buck then leave, your answer to this question is probably a yes.
If your main goal is to make a new record and land the top paying post of all time then again your answer is most likely yes.
If your only focus is working to make your next post payout way more than your last one then I’m sure your answer is a definite Yes.
The thing that motivates and drives you will be the main influence of your actions and how you govern yourself here.
Here’s a perfect example:
Someone who is driven by the goals I mentioned above will harass and spam people in the comment sections and through dm’s by demanding more support. I’m not just making this up, I’ve received these types of messages on more than one occasion.
If you base your Hive success merely on making it to trending…you won’t last long here.
That’s real talk.
If I would have based my success on the amount of times I made trending within the first few years of starting, I wouldn’t be here writing this post right now. I would have been long gone from the feeling of failure and exhaustion cause believe me it took many of moons before that happened 😄.
Did I want to make it to trending?
Of course! Who wouldn’t want that bonus? That’s exactly how I see trending…as a bonus. It’s not something that drives me, it doesn’t make me when it happens or break me when it doesn’t. It only motivates me to continue doing my best and putting out my best quality efforts.
Making trending doesn’t determine whether I stay or not. I consider it a treat, a reward, a notable privilege.

What’s my take on Hive Success? That’s why I love this community because you know just the right questions to ask :D
I base my Hive success on a few things:
• My influence is impactful:
I have always considered myself a leader in some kind of way. I try using my knowledge and experiences to help others (be it through my content, comments or convos off chain). If by the response and feedback I get tells me that I’ve impacted someone, then that’s success in my book.
• My following continues to increase:
If my influence here is impactful then this one should ensue. When people follow you it means they are interested in what you have to say or share and at one point or another have found it to be of value. You’re doing something right for them to decide to keep up with your content. If my following was the same as it was five years ago I’d definitely have some self re-evaluating to do. 🫣
• My contributions add on to the developments, growth and success of Hive:
I love this platform and it matters to me how I spend my time here. If I want to see this space continue to advance and evolve into even greater things then I’m going to use my time, skills and resources to help make that happen. I may not be a dev or a programmer but the work I do I’d like to think of as also important. Although I may only cover a small portion here as far as getting my hands involved, (working in certain communities, helping guide newbies) I still put effort into that portion and try to make helpful changes and improvements with whomever and wherever I am working. If the bit that I do is contributing in some way then I am part of Hive’s success and the same goes for you! Each of us plays a role in the success of this platform.
The friendships I’ve gained go beyond this platform:
I gotta be honest and say I had no idea that building real friendships would even be possible here. I had a little experience from other social sites beforehand and if you weren’t already family or a friend, I didn’t really trust to build anything online with someone new that I didn’t know. Right off the back it was different here. Being able to meet, get to know and build valuable relationships with people from all over this world is invaluable. Since I deem relationships as an important part of my life, being able to build that here I also consider an accomplishment.
Everyone won’t measure their Hive success by the same standards as I do. It really does depend on the reason(s) you are here.
For those of you who feel like giving up or consider yourself a failure for not making the trending list with your content and you are here to gain and build more than just a high payout post, I hope you take the time to re-evaluate your position.
Start looking at what you have accomplished. It’s all about steps and as long as you are making them you are achieving something. The way you view your success really changes your experience here.
I think one of the biggest mistakes people make on Hive is having high expectations. There’s nothing wrong with setting goals and working towards them but when you start expecting things to go a certain way or expect things to always work in your favor you’ll definitely have disappointments.
Nothing is guaranteed here.
This is the type of place where you do you, do it your best and let the rest follow. Your quality and impact will surely be noticed eventually…but don’t expect it to happen at a certain time or even by a certain someone.
I’m only telling you what I learned myself 😉.
