Hal Varian is much engaged in Microeconomics and in Information Sciences, especially informaiton technology. He is interestint to read, and he often does the thinking in logical and in clear way. Ha lVarian has taught at MIT, Stanford University, the University of Oxford, the University of Michigan, the University of Siena and other universities around the world. And many people appreciate his human beings and his contributions to the world environments in sciences.
Professor Hal Varian knows a lot about Economics. Just now he is the chief economist at Google and he holds the title of emeritus professor at the University of California, Berkeley where he was founding dean of the School of Information. And both of these positions are amazing, and there are many employees in the universities and among the students that have read his two books in Microeconomics, for instance Intermediate Microeconomics and Microeconomic Analysis. Hal Varian is structured and it is easy to read him, but for many years students in Economics around the world used the bible to professor Paul Samuelson by MIT: Foundations of Economic Analysis. Samuelson was the economist that was used as an advisor under president John F. Kennedy and president Lyndon B. Johnson. Paul Samuelson received the Nobel Prize in Economics in 1970. And hence, there were bright sides of the American society in Samuelson’s days, and not the dark sides that we got from president Donald Trump at 06.01.21, where people made protests and invaded the Congress. If you do not follow the president and the advisors, you are not obedient to authority, and you can get an image as a terrorist and that is bad!
Hal Varian in also on the internet. He explains how automation of work will affect lower-wages jobs, and hence we want to earn enough money to take care of ourselves, our friends, our families and our environments. You also find Varian with Economic Models for the Internet, A Conversations With Google’s Hal Varian and Hal Varian «Bots and Tots». And understanding all the efforts and talents and knowledges and problems and interests to Hal Varian implies that you should have long and deep education in Economics and/or Business Administration, and that you have your habits in life to think about what has been done, and explaining what we experience in all the nations economies in the world today. We should face the world, and the world should face us, and there are always requirements on us to constitute the business life and the environments, and all what we can do is dependent on our human resources, and where we have done our studies and research, and that can be in all levels in the schools. But Varian is mostly speaking to people having higher education, and having the best opportunities in the organizations at home and abroad. TV and radio are just filled with making messages, and these messages can be understood or they cannot be understood in the meaning and the environment that they were given within!
So, why value Hal Varian? Because, his life is interesting, and he describes Economics by being the fight for the scarcity of resources at our planet. But if we find the right persons with good education, we should choose the people with the best backgrounds in the positions that are available. And Hal Varian also knows that Economics is much about what leaders have done on choices in earlier times, and that there often are alternatives about what we can do. And choosing the best alternative is the way we understand rational persons being placed in the best positions.
Hal Varian is born on 18 March 1947 in Wooster in Ohio in the USA. Therefore, Hal Varian is 73 years old today. And you reach him through social media, through the mail system, taking a call, or just meeting him alive. And he has one child from a relation with a lady, and his name is Christopher Max Varian. Hence, the name «Max» leads us to think about functions that we have in Economics, among all of them having the highest utility level and the highest level of welfare!
