The mysterious and magnetic power of old churches and castles attracts my curious soul, which craves a connection with the past. There is an unknown and indescribable force within me, that may be seen as a detective on a mission, or a journey, to discover its true identity and origin. Some may say "oh, that force can't be described, so it ain't true", but if our present-day knowledge gets compared with all knowledge there is, including the yet unfound and undiscovered, we'd realize how little do we know. I hold it true, that a large portion of the ancient knowledge was either purposely, mistakenly, or ignorantly destroyed, and is now permanently lost on the bottom of the sea of time.
When thinking of the middle ages, most people think of old castles, and barbarian ways of living, but, according to architectural evidence that still surrounds us, the minds of those people were more civilized, capable, and creative than ours. Take a look at the colosseums in Rome and Pula. They've been built approximately 2000 years ago, yet, they are still standing. One has to wonder how many earthquakes and wars those buildings have survived. Then, take a look at any multi-billion dollar military base that has been abandoned for no more than 20 years. It's in a state of collapsing.
Well, what we seek is seeking us... while reading about the ancient and middle age history of my country and people, I discovered many things that are not being taught in schools nor talked about in the modern-day history books. To me, those discoveries feel like a kind of reunification with the roots, cause during the communist occupation, there was an ongoing thing called "memoricide". Communists tried to weaken the population and make it suitable for submission by eradication of roots (history and knowledge thereof). A tree without roots cannot live, neither can a nation without history. The entire royalty was eradicated, and their properties confiscated. Many churches were purposely destroyed, just like the cathedral of St. Christ the Saviour in Moscow.
Fortunately, God saved the pillars! Some people say "the Devil is in details". In this case, it was God, not the Devil! While barbarian communists were focused on destroying cathedrals and starving tens of millions of people, seemingly unimportant churches and chapels were ignored, which left them standing. One of them is the church of St. George in Slovakia. It could be described as a beautiful little gemstone that was mentioned for the first time at the beginning of the 14th century. It has seen numerous wars, including wars against the Ottoman Empire, during which it was badly damaged. One of the Ottoman attacks in 1558 was too brutal for walls and the roof to endure... Sadly, the roof got blown apart, and the church was set on fire. The interior, the tomb, and all the decorative motifs were left exposed to the mercy of weather and time. The restoration (allegedly) began 380 years later, in 1938. It lasted for decades (and still hasn't been finished)! Workers needed 40 years to discover wall paintings that were miraculously preserved!

Here are pictures of several centuries-old wall paintings that I mentioned above. Keep in mind that the restoration (allegedly) started in 1938, but the last painting was discovered in 2009!
Important: the first wall painting shows the last supper, but unlike Da Vinci's version, this one shows a woman behind doors (take a look at the right side of the painting). If you zoom in, you'll also see a man, on the left side of the doors, and three men, including Jesus, inside. All of the 4 men shown in the painting have the light that may be described as a "sun" around their heads. That represents purity and enlightenment, however, the woman doesn't have it, which makes me think if the people back in those times knew something of the last supper story that we are not being told these days! Besides, there are only two apostles with Jesus at the table!
The following photo shows three St. Marys. Unlike the woman in the previous photo, St. Mary is enlightened and pure.
The last painting I'll share is of Jesus the Saviour on the cross. By zooming in, you'll be able to see there are soldiers on the left side. Jesus was painted as a blonde-haired man which is quite interesting. Most people will automatically reject it under the presumption that there were no blonde-haired people in Palestine. Let me just remind you that we are most of the time being told the exact opposite of what's true and what really happened...
There are many more things to be seen in that church, however, they're related to the family that built it. Things such as a coat of arms engraved in stone, the tomb of one of their ancestors, and so on. That bloodline is still alive, believe it or not, therefore, I will not be posting information that may disclose their identity and other personal information.
The church of St. George is one of MANY miraculously well-preserved churches in the so-called "Gothic route" of Slovakia. Let me share a little secret with all of those mystery-loving and secret-seeking souls: small places tell big stories.
