Hey there! My name’s Fiona and I’ve recently turned 25. You wouldn’t believe that if you ever see me around though, I have the social graces of a toddler. Surprisingly, I handle myself well enough in a kitchen and that’s the journey I would love to share on this platform.
I am an engineering graduate having specialized in Electronics and Communication Engineering. I currently work in IBM Pvt Ltd full time as a Senior Technical Associate. It has definitely taken me a while to strike a work-life balance that I am happy with, but now that I have, I am trying to actively pursue my hobbies for my own sanity.
The passion for food has always been in the family. With Portuguese roots and having lived in Goa most of my life, I think it’s safe to say that my life revolves around fascinating food. My childhood has been about sitting on kitchen countertops and asking mum a million questions about the dish that’s being made. Grinding a fresh batch of spice mix, the soothing rhythm of veggies being chopped, having the aroma of a dish cloud your kitchen, these are some of the most vivid food memories I have and I do believe spending this time together is what built the bond that I share with my mum today.

I began cooking as a hobby back in 2020 when the pandemic hit and there was practically nothing else to do. As someone in my 20s, I should have known my way around a kitchen wayyyyy before that, given that it’s a whole life skill. But I had never found the need to, neither had the interest to cook, when I had amazing food available to me at the click of a few buttons. Having that luxury taken away from me during the pandemic made me realize that the only way I can satiate my food cravings is to learn how to make it myself. And thus began a crazy journey filled with good food, weird experiments, epic fails, a lot of learning and bonding time over food with my fam!
Away from the kitchen, my only real solace is retail therapy. I shop till I drop (quite literally, given that summers are brutal in India) and that goes for outfits, shoes, jewelry, home décor- quite literally, everything. I am a huge skincare and makeup junkie as well. I love reading fiction and am a true hopeless romantic. I do occasionally sketch and am a huge fan of Mandala art. A self-proclaimed therapist and the mom friend of every gang, I’ll surely drop tiny nuggets of philosophy amid all casual conversations. In my spare time, I do love to checkout the food scene around me and having lived in multiple foodie-centric cities (Goa, Mumbai, Bangalore) , I believe I could help with some great recommendations.
Also, a huge shoutout to my very good friend @bighungrypanda for introducing me to this platform. Super stoked to be starting out and can’t wait to spark interesting conversations with the gang here! Peace!
