I was thinking about gratitude today and how the simple act of showing it can have such a huge impact and influence upon a person; I don't just mean the person being shown the gratitude, but also those showing gratitude towards others. It is a powerful and meaningful emotion.
In my contemplation's about gratitude I was reminded of a quote I read some time ago by a gentleman called Marcus Tullius Cicero, Governor of Cilicia and Consul of Rome. This Academic Sceptic philosopher, lawyer and Statesman of Rome said many wise things before his assassination in 43BC including this lovely quote about gratitude that came to mind today:
Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others. - Cicero
Thank you Cicero, I completely agree; Great minds think alike it seems. 😉

Gratitude doesn't always extend from one person to another though; Sometimes one just feels grateful and that's how I was feeling yesterday.
You see, my wife Faith has been undergoing testing for cancer over the last three weeks; It's been a torrid few weeks of testing and uncertainty.
Yesterday was the last stage and we spent the morning with the oncology haematologist (blood cancer doctor) who delivered some good news. Sure, there's a couple of other little tests, but it seems Faith is free of cancer for which we are both very grateful. She has a few issues to sort out, but being cancer free was welcome news...We can now work on the other things.
That's why I was thinking about gratitude, and was feeling so grateful. I don't know what would be left of me if Faith was taken away; Not much is probably the answer and so...Yeah, you get the idea.
Today, whilst feeling grateful, I started working on the #weekend-engagement post for this Friday and, as I was typing in the names of the sponsors, I felt inclined to do a post expressing my gratitude to them for their continued support.
Each week a group of people send me some hive for the prize pool which gets distributed amongst some of the entrants each week. Some of those are actual #weekend-engagement winners sending their hive-prize back, paying it forward for someone else to benefit from. That's legit and it's indicative of the quality one can find within the hive community. It makes me feel proud to be a part of.
To the following hive community members I'd like to thank you for your support of the #weekend-engagement initiative:
@krazzytrukker, @mamalikh13, @preparedwombat, @tarazkp, @stevenwood, @abh12345, @globalcurrencies, @meesterboom, @bigtom13, @bil.prag, @dswigle, @m31, @ryivhnn, @creativemary, @bashadow, @mikepm74, @badfinger.
The word thank you is the simplest ways of showing gratitude so, thank you sponsorship team, your support is very much appreciated!
In the past seven weeks of the #weekend-engagement contest 608 hive has been handed out to the winners, transferred directly to their account, for nothing more than a simple comment, just a small amount of engagement. That has been made possible by those above who have supplemented my small hive-injection with their own. What a bunch of champs! You're all quality operators and are welcome around my campfire any day!
I hope you'll go and check out their accounts and see what you find because I can assure you there's plenty of great content there to cater for any taste. Throw them a comment or two and engage with them - They're all great people and will engage back.
If you want to sponsor the #weekend-engagement concept feel free to transfer the hive to my wallet with the message weekend-engagement sponsorship and you'll get mentioned in the post.
In the seven weeks I've been running the #weekend-engagement concept the initiative has put 1,930 comments onto the blockchain...1,930 comments y'all! That's a lot of comments and a lot of engagement...This traction is largely due to the support of the people you see above. (This figure only counts comments on the actual topic announcement post, not the winners announcement post so in reality is much larger!)
If you're keen on learning more about the #weekend-engagement topic come back to my posts on Friday afternoon/evening and you'll find it...You'll have all weekend to get involved. It's a great way to engage with the community and to win some hive.
Now...Back to gratitude.
What I'd like to see in the comments below is who or what you are grateful for. It can be a hive user, family member, friend, colleague, your job, health, a book you read...Literally anything you are grateful for.
There's no hive to win, just the awesome feeling of showing gratitude, and some engagement from the G-dog (that's me) and maybe others in the community too.
Thanks for coming by and having a read.
