Today is Monday and I'm pulling the pin; That's right, it's going to explode! I have a great day planned, work mostly, but it will set me up for a great week ahead.
This explosion attitude is something I take into most weeks and the idea revolves around attacking the day, and subsequent week, as strongly as possible, with as much vigour and effort as I can.
Setting up my week on a Monday revolves around strategy and goal-setting much of which is based around the last weeks' review and what I understood from it and around the following few weeks ahead of desired, required, results. It's a simply formula that has worked well for me.
I often whinge about Monday's but in truth Monday is the most important part of the week for me, at work, as it sets the tone for the rest of the week and I find if I begin with the right attitude and a productive day on Monday, the rest of the week tends to roll out the same; It's like I carry that productivity, that results-oriented ethos, mindset and attitude into the rest of the week.
When Friday rolls around I take the time to review the week prior to beginning the weekend and find I'm rarely disappointed...I look at my goals and measure them against what I achieved. I evaluate my performance, attitude and result. I do not always hit my goals of course and it's important to know why, how close I got and what I could do to differently ensure I hit then next week. It's a cycle I repeat week in and week out and I've maintained strong results because of it. I'm rarely disappointed because I can look back and see how much effort and passion I put into it. Whether I reached my goals or not, it's nice to see that I did the right things.
I'm no different to anyone else; I feel demotivated and negative at times. I believe anyone who says they are positive all the time is lying, to us, and themselves. Having said that though, through goal-setting, check-measuring throughout the week and evaluating at the end I find myself more able to focus on the tasks at hand and the activities and attitude that will ultimately lead me to the end-result.
So, come on guys...Talk to me. Tell me what your strategy is? Do you drag yourself kicking and screaming through your week, or do you attack it with passion and vigour like me? Do you have motivational strategies you employ or do you just hope for the best? Do you set goals, measure them and evaluate at the end of the week?
We all approach our lives differently and achieve different results. In fact most of us seek different things in life as we are all different and live in different circumstances. However I'm pretty sure that most of us all want a similar thing in life, that is the best one we can design and create so what are your strategies?
Have a great week y'all. Pull the pin on a good one!
Design and create your ideal life, don't live it by default - Tomorrow isn't promised.
