Hello, children of the crypto world. How have you been? I hope you're all right and keeping up a proper quarantine. I got lost for a few days, but I've been hitting the graphics tablet pretty hard while I'm locked up and locked out of the house.
I'm still on commissions for @smanuels. This time I come with a whale bigger than @ocd's, or at least that's what it says in the character description. It's been a long time since I made a flying whale, although I'm still not satisfied with the result (I'm too much of a perfectionist and I still don't reach my goal in digital art), but the client has loved it and that's the important thing, it's also important to remember that I have his permission to share this illustration with you.
Here is the description I was given for the character:
Physical appearance description: It is like a flying whale that is able to phagocytize big creatures and mastodon structures completely with its huge mouth. It has whitish fur and no teeth.
Clothing description:
-Clothing head: It has clothes of golden color.
-Torso clothing: It has golden ornaments.
-Clothing legs: It does not have legs.
-Clothing feet: It does not have.
-Clothing arms and hands: It does not have
Average height and weight: Weighs more than 200 tons.

Tools:
- Wacom Intuos 4
- Medibang Paint
- Photoshop

-Step 1:
The sketch was easy, I basically had to draw a hairy whale, so I drew one and added a kind of beard and a couple more fins.

-Step 2:
The coloring came with the background, the description of the character said that this monster lives in the surroundings of a floating continent, so I added it in the landscape along with a bed of clouds to achieve a more beautiful sky.

-Step 3:
As usual, I got rid of the lineart little by little as I added details, I tried to stick as much as possible to the delineation, but I changed some things, like the expression of the eye and the side ornaments.

-Step 4:
The thing that consumed my time in this illustration, was the bed of clouds, not even the whale, later I realized that it was a mistake not to have detailed better these clouds from the beginning, it was much more difficult to do it at the end, it is difficult to paint that cotton of the sky. I already have something else to add to the list of everything I need to improve in my art.

I'll leave you a little gif with the whole process in it, so you can better appreciate the step by step.
