Hola a todos, me llamo Marivic Cuicas, tengo veinticinco años, soy de Venezuela y actualmente vivo en Brasil. Desde niña mi mamá me inculcó la lectura y fue la persona que me enseñó a escribir también, soy hija única y en mis tiempos sola siempre me gustaba crear historias y cuentos, mi imaginación siempre volaba y así es como comencé a escribir; incluso con uno de mis primos cuando teníamos como siete años solíamos jugar que estábamos dentro de una serie y esa serie junto con los personajes todos fueron creados por nosotros.
Hello everyone, my name is Marivic Cuicas, I am twenty-five years old, I am from Venezuela and I am currently living in Brazil. Since I was a child my mom instilled reading in me and she was the person who taught me to write too, I am an only child and in my times alone I always liked to create stories and tales, my imagination was always flying and that's how I started writing; even with one of my cousins when we were about seven years old we used to play that we were inside a series and that series along with the characters were all created by us.
A los nueve años de edad quedé de segundo lugar en un concurso municipal de escritura promovido por INPARQUES (una institución encargada de velar por la seguridad y bienestar del medio ambiente en Venezuela), esa vez creé un cuento que se llamaba Pedro Santiago y el Mar, dedicado a uno de mis primos menores que no había conocido el mar ya que vivía en el llano; no recuerdo haber participado en otro concurso de escritura desde entonces, pero durante todo mi período escolar incluyendo secundaria tuve excelentes notas y un gran rendimiento académico. Gracias a mi profesora de literatura, a los quince años comencé a leer a Horacio Quiroga y Edgar Allan Poe, de hecho en un examen escrito que tuvimos, una de las preguntas consistía en redactar un pequeño cuento de ese estilo y así creé mi primer cuento de horror, se llamaba “Algo más que un sacapuntas” (tengo una historia bastante loca y cómica con respecto a éste relato, pero eso se los cuento en otro post); en ese tiempo el blog “Tumblr” era muy popular y me hice una cuenta y publiqué éste y otros tres relatos de terror más, tuve buena aceptación y los publiqué en la red social Facebook también, éstos relatos los compartiré con ustedes más adelante, pero les advierto que son algo retorcidos.
When I was nine years old I got second place in a municipal writing contest promoted by INPARQUES (an institution in charge of looking after the safety and welfare of the environment in Venezuela), that time I created a story called Pedro Santiago and the Sea, dedicated to one of my younger cousins who had not known the sea since he lived in the plains; I do not remember having participated in another writing contest since then, but during all my school period including high school I had excellent grades and a great academic performance. Thanks to my literature teacher, at the age of fifteen I started reading Horacio Quiroga and Edgar Allan Poe, in fact in a written exam we had, one of the questions was to write a short story of that style and so I created my first horror story, it was called "Algo más que un sacapuntas" (I have a pretty crazy and comical story regarding this story, but I'll tell you about that in another post); At that time the blog "Tumblr" was very popular and I made an account and published this and three other horror stories, I had good acceptance and I published them in the social network Facebook as well, these stories I will share with you later, but I warn you that they are somewhat twisted.
Cuando me gradué de secundaria estaba un poco indecisa sobre lo quería para mi futuro, tenía dieciséis años y realmente podía aplicar a cualquier universidad y carrera debido a mis notas, al final opté por ir a la facultad de ingeniería en una ciudad que me quedaba a una hora y media de donde crecí. Tuve la dicha de vivir con mis abuelos maternos, ya que ellos vivían en ésta ciudad y así es como comencé mis primeros pasos en la universidad; toda mi vida he sido tímida, no me cuesta relacionarme con los demás pero no se me hace fácil iniciar una conversación, por el ambiente y también por la exigencia de las materias de la universidad, comencé a relacionarme más y llegué a conocer mucha gente, estudiaba con ellos, nos divertíamos y creé ciertas amistades que hasta el día de hoy perduran, a pesar de no verlos por años.
When I graduated from high school I was a little undecided about what I wanted for my future, I was sixteen years old and I could really apply to any university and career because of my grades, in the end I chose to go to engineering school in a city that was an hour and a half away from where I grew up. I had the joy of living with my maternal grandparents, since they lived in this city and that is how I started my first steps in college; all my life I have been shy, it is not hard for me to relate to others but it is not easy for me to start a conversation, because of the environment and also because of the demands of the subjects of the university, I began to relate more and I got to know many people, I studied with them, we had fun and I created certain friendships that last until today, despite not seeing them for years.
Luego de aproximadamente dos años me di cuenta de que Ingeniería no era lo que yo quería estudiar, fue una época y una decisión muy fuerte para mí, tenía miedo de decepcionar a mi familia, especialmente mis abuelos y tíos que me habían estado apoyando y por supuesto a mis padres que siempre estaban allí para mí, pero no podía seguir en algo que no me hacía feliz. Pero un momento, se me olvidó comentarles, como toda joven pensaba que podía con todo, así que después de un año y medio estudiando en la facultad de ingeniería, empecé a sentir que no encajaba allí y vi una oportunidad en otra universidad que estaba ofertando la carrera de Derecho en una modalidad online y decidí estudiar ambas carreras al mismo tiempo. Al final (menos mal) dejé una y me quedé con la carrera de Derecho que desde un principio sentí que me gustaba bastante y hoy en día ya soy abogada, hace dos años me gradué.
After about two years I realized that Engineering was not what I wanted to study, it was a time and a very strong decision for me, I was afraid of disappointing my family, especially my grandparents and uncles who had been supporting me and of course my parents who were always there for me, but I could not continue in something that did not make me happy. But one moment, I forgot to tell you, like every young girl I thought I could do anything, so after a year and a half studying in engineering school, I started to feel that I didn't fit there and I saw an opportunity in another university that was offering the Law degree in an online mode and I decided to study both degrees at the same time. In the end (thank goodness) I left one and stayed with the Law career that from the beginning I felt I liked a lot and today I am already a lawyer, two years ago I graduated.

Bueno paré con lo cuentos de terror a los dieciséis años y la verdad luego dejé de escribir (dedicándome) hasta el año 2018, que una ruptura amorosa me llevó de nuevo a la escritura, me ayudó a descubrir una nueva faceta y comencé con poesías de amor y desamor, relatos y también reflexiones sobre la vida, de hecho, creé una cuenta en Instagram y logré que más de veinte mil personas me siguieran y tuve mucha interacción allí, aún sigo en ésta cuenta y debajo les dejaré mis redes para que me sigan si quieren leer más y saber de qué se trata, sin embargo, no se preocupen, que indagaré más sobre éste y los demás temas en futuros posts.

Well I stopped with the horror stories when I was sixteen years old and the truth then I stopped writing (dedicating myself) until 2018, that a love breakup led me back to writing, it helped me to discover a new facet and I started with love and heartbreak poems, stories and also reflections on life, in fact, I created an account on Instagram and I got more than twenty thousand people to follow me and I had a lot of interaction there, I am still on this account and below I will leave you my networks so you can follow me if you want to read more and know what it's about, however, do not worry, I will dig more about this and other topics in future posts.
Éstos últimos años han sido un poco más difíciles para mí, en febrero de dos mil veinte mi mamá falleció, era joven tenía cuarenta y nueve años y fue algo que ni mi familia ni yo esperábamos que sucediera, todo pasó muy rápido, esto me cambió mucho la manera de ver las cosas, ella era mi mejor amiga y realmente éramos muy cercanas; también finalizando el año perdía a otro amigo, mi perrito Sirius con el que tenía una conexión muy especial y comenzando éste año mi abuelo materno también partió de éste mundo, no les mentiré, fue bastante complicado y me tocó tener mucha fuerza para volverme a poner de pie, pero en la vida se pasan por muchas cosas y a pesar de todo, hay que seguir siempre y aquí estoy, dando lo mejor de mí cada día y tratando de superarme y conseguir un futuro más estable, procurando vencer los obstáculos y creando más momentos felices, porque al final lo que queda son los recuerdos y lo que viviste; y la escritura me ayudó mucho a desahogarme, a expresar todos esos sentimientos y a sentirme mejor conmigo misma, más adelante les compartiré un poema que le escribí a mi mamá.
These last years have been a little more difficult for me, in February of two thousand twenty my mom passed away, she was young, she was forty-nine years old and it was something that neither my family nor I expected to happen, everything happened very fast, this changed my way of seeing things, she was my best friend and we were really very close; also at the end of the year I lost another friend, my dog Sirius with whom I had a very special connection and at the beginning of this year my maternal grandfather also left this world, I will not lie, it was quite complicated and I had to have a lot of strength to get back on my feet, but in life you go through many things and despite everything, you always have to continue and here I am, giving the best of me every day and trying to improve myself and get a more stable future, trying to overcome obstacles and creating more happy moments, because in the end what remains are the memories and what you lived; and writing helped me a lot to let off steam, to express all those feelings and to feel better about myself, later I will share with you a poem I wrote to my mom.
Creé este blog con el objetivo de contar mi historia, dar mi opinión sobre cómo veo la vida, analizar cosas cotidianas y compartir un poco más sobre lo que me gusta hacer y cómo cada una de las experiencias que he tenido en mi vida me han llevado a crecer y aprender nuevas cosas. Actualmente manejo tres idiomas, español que es mi lengua materna, inglés en un nivel avanzado y portugués que lo estoy aprendiendo cada día desde que llegué a Brasil.
I created this blog with the objective of telling my story, give my opinion about how I see life, analyze everyday things and share a little more about what I like to do and how each of the experiences I have had in my life have led me to grow and learn new things. Currently I speak three languages, Spanish which is my mother tongue, English at an advanced level and Portuguese which I am learning every day since I arrived in Brazil.
