At the end of each garden journal, I typically show off the lime tree we have in the corner of our patio. Bragging that we have limes larger than most lemons, I've mentioned a few times that my wife should hook up the Key Lime Pie.
The truth is, I asked if she'd make it a few weeks back. She said she would and that it was quite easy. I don't know about all that easy stuff, but she told me to pick a bunch of limes. I never did.
I never did, that is, until today. And my wife, not being half the lagger I am, proceeded to craft the pie. We ended up having the most tasty and sweetest treat to finish a weekend frought with bitterness and tears.
I Said We Had Big Limes & Lots Of Them - Check Out This Bag Full!
This was easily a twenty to twenty-five pound bag o' limes. There are still more than few left in back that were harder to reach. I'll get in there in the next few days and fill up another half a bag. These limes won't last much longer and need a good home.
I had a old friend stop by this afternoon from our old neighborhood. We were able to hand him a small bag full along with mint and basil from the garden.
Chris owns and cares for an apartment full of reptiles and amphibians (and a dog). He has Pythons, Monitors, Geckos, Toads, and many other species. Here's one shot of a proud Bearded Dragon before I get back to the limes.
This bedroom holds most of the reptiles. Chris had the lights off and turned a couple heat lamps on when we entered. It's been so hot here, the reptiles haven't needed any help from lamps.
Back To The Limes & My Wife, The Master Baker
I gave Chris a ride back to his place in the old hood where I grabbed a few pics of his scaled pets. More on those in a future post! Upon return, dinner was ready. The dear lady had hooked it up. BBQ chicken legs and corn on the cob.
Once dinner was all cleaned up, we dug into the beauty you see in the image above. It may not look like much but let me tell you, it is super delicious. Limes from our tree out back make it even that much more tasty. And tangy!
Here was my piece seconds before being devoured!
That's all for today. Thanks for reading and as always...
