I am, however, Jedida Osei Bediako, a Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology alumnus. I began my university journey with a pellucid idea of becoming a research scientist, coupled with business and financial projections. ππππlooking at how imbecile I was 4 years ago, didn't arouse my interest to heighten that level of expectation. As the saying goes " too much expectation breeds disappointment", following academic work and losing track of the intrinsic vision of becoming a millionaire π π π π π π π . Too many motivational videos and blurring the vision of what was necessary. Fast forward, in 2019, i was enrolled in a wolrd summit on deforestation and REDD+ initiative by United Nations which has opened my scope of knowledge above my horizon to think on the larger platform of sustainablility and conservation.
Furthermore, going through the university was an eye saw with so many ups and downs, tears and happiness, it wasnt easy for meπ

. Always going to lectures early in the morning with so many assignments and lecture notes. I sometimes used to think that, it was stress, but i came to the realization that, we are been pruned so that we can contribute our quota to ameliorate socio economc development in our society, country and globe at large. Academic is good but "application of the theoritical knowledge in practical sense is what places you ahead of your peers". Jed is a sobriquet of Jedida. As a matter of fact, going to final year, i decided to do a project work related to mictobiology, to have a feel of unison of my field of study. My journey, through this research was a tragic comedy but all the same i was able to sail through for better results. Within a jiffy, i would like to expound my experience of my scientific report in the next paragraph.
The project was an African Union Project through the Safefish project, looking at "Development of bacteriophages cocktails as disease biocontrol agents for improved aquaculture productivity, food and nutrition safety in Ghana and Uganda. Bacteriophages for fish health management on aquaculture farms in Ghana and Uganda". In 2021, lead team for the project, Dr. Etornyo Agbeko and Mr. Evans Agbemafle took samples from the Sewer pond at Akosombo to the Food Research Institute a subunit of CSIR, where microbiological test was done. serial dilution and bacteria enumeration pure isolates was done which was succored by my supervisor. i wasnt having the experience so i was fambling with the fundamentals which was also time wasting to meet timelines for the project.
From the data collection, statistical analysis using SPSS was used to analyze my data before presentation. Oral defense was a terrible experience with no sleep, tension building everywhere. reading my dissertation over and over again. During the day of presentation, i dressed officially with my white polo shirt and tie. When i entered into the interview room, i displayed level of intelligence and courage and that made me a master of my thesis. Lecturers was pleased with my work and i was really happy. at least, my hardwork paid off.
Thank you giving me such an opportunity to participate on this platform. My write up is a form of gratitude and appreciation.
HIVE GHANA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
