Hello, everyone! It’s good to be back after 2 weeks of being on hiatus. I wasn’t able to insert time in blogging because of my hectic schedule. But last week, I’ve decided to be back in blogging since I’m starting to work from home again.
While scrolling on my feed, I’ve seen @tegoshei’s 30-Day Blogging Challenge. I got excited as it’s very timely, so I’m delighted to join in! This would add to my daily activities, but I guess I’ll enjoy doing this because it’s fun and engaging!
So, let’s start with the first topic on the list.
1. Your Blog’s Name/Username
Before joining Steemit, I was a writer in Wattpad where I wrote Tagalog stories. My pen name is mejarie which is just a rumbled letter of my name, Jemarie. I’ve been using that username for more than 4 years whenever I write poems, short stories, novels, and bible reflections. But when I joined Steemit two years ago, I was confused between using my writing pen name or a new username.
I first thought of continuing to use my writing pen name as Steemit is also a writing platform. But I ended up using @jemzem.
My Nicknames
I love Jem as my nickname and I love it more when people call me with that name. So, I made sure to include my favorite nickname in my new username because my Wattpad friends call me Mej, but I really prefer to be called as Jem.
The ‘zem’ in my username is my second favorite nickname. My college classmates started to call me Zem when we were taking our board exam review because one of the review center staffs pronounce letter J as letter Z. That staff always call me Zem and my classmates immediately followed him after hearing it.
I love both nicknames, so I first used Jem Zem as my Facebook name. I was using my real name on Facebook ever since I created an account. But when I started to enter the world of teaching, that’s where I decided to change my Facebook name and I got the idea of using Jem Zem instead.
I was anticipating that my students would search my Facebook account and would add me as a friend. I want to keep my privacy and I don’t want them to stalk with my account because they might see my silly posts before I entered the world of teaching.
As a teacher, I know that I have the responsibility to be a good role model. So, I decided not to add any student in my real account because I’m still doing silly stuff with my ex-workmates and they were tagging me with our photos on Facebook.
When I resigned as a Teacher and went back to my original profession, I changed my Facebook name with my real name again. But now, I also use the username @jemzem to my other social media accounts such as Instagram, Twitter, etc, because I love it.
That's the story behind my username. Nothing special, but I just love it. :)
How about you? What's with your username? Join the Blogging Challenge so that we'll get to know each other more. :)
Thank you for reading and see you tomorrow for our second Blogging Challenge topic: "Ten Facts About You".
