Hello guys, My name is Olamilekan Akinsola but my brand name is Kruce Koncept. I am a Visual Art student of University of Lagos.
I'm an enthusiastic Visual Artist, an graphic illustrator and currently working at Teesas Technologies limited, a graphic designer, painter and also currently taking freelance commissions both on painting and pencil works, a photographer, also currently working at Harvesters International Christian Center (HICC), a fashion designer as a freelancer and a model.
I was born and currently living in Lagos state, Nigeria.
I started my art career since elementary school, it was inspired by one of my class mates who was really good at drawing, he used to create a lot of comic books and awesome drawings and I wanted to be good also at drawing, not just good but also better than him. Then I started making comics also, I made a lot of comic books when I got to secondary school and also recreated some popular childhood cartoons such as spider man and the likes, I used to be the best art student in my secondary school and got popular for that. Basically my whole art career have been motivated by the great and inspiring works of other artist and also the need to surpass them.
To be born into a multilingual and multicultural environment such as Nigeria helps me to see the world in all its diversities, much of which I try to replicate in my works, from the ethnicity to the culture, language as well as capture the daily struggles we face on daily basis in Nigeria . My work is known for its originality, genuineness and it encompasses various social themes. When working on a traditional art such as painting, pencil works or a mixed media, I prefer to be alone in my own space with my earphones on as I listen to music cause sometimes working alone and without music could get boring and which makes me sleepy.
I'm optimistic, versatile and always open and ready to learn, unlearn, and relearn new ideas as I push my own boundaries to create more works. I also get my reference from mainly Pinterest and other social media networks but I prefer to have my reference taken by myself whenever I want to work on a traditional art.
My dream is to become a successful artist, when I say success I mean to be a fulfilled artist, to have my ideas totally passed on to my works and my audience fully connect to every piece I create.
Art for me is a Purgation of Emotions so I find myself trying to convey my inner most feelings in every piece I create as well as carrying my audience and viewers on an emotional journey. Emotions/feelings has been my main focus whenever I'm creating any peice I don’t want people to view my art with just their eyes, but rather their hearts as well. I want my works to be able to drive out those hidden feels in my viewers both good or bad, take people back to beautiful moments in their childhood, a gloomy day from a long time ago, a normal day from last week. I want to create art that everyone can relate to, regardless of their gender, where they’re from and even their social status.
I am grateful to have had my work exhibited three times in a mini exhibition, and the opportunity to have worked for more than five various companies as both an Illustrator and a portrait artist.
Some of my motivation as well as inspirations comes from Tibor Nagy (a landscape painter), which I find his way of painting and colour application really interesting and appealing and I quite enjoy the little touch of impasto on most his art works that gives them a natural feeling.
I also admire Rembrandt (a classical portrait painter), he paints mostly portraitures, I find his use of local value and colour contrast interesting with the way he uses colours to gently direct the viewers eyes to his focal point and the message he tries to pass across.
I heard about the platform from an amazing artist friend, @tezzmax , who has been a member for many years. He commended the platform a lot and spoke about the positive impact it had on him, so I decided to give it a try and see how much it would also impact in my life and my art.
I also see the platform as an opportunity to improve and also challenge myself to creating art every day.
Thank you for taking some minutes out of your time to know about me and I hope you all like and are able to connect with my works as much as I do.
