Today it rained all day, the first time since lockdown in UK. It wasn't pouring cats and dogs, just drizzling on and off, the annoying kind of rain. It's just as well, the weather has been really nice since lockdown otherwise I'm sure the nation would have gone nuts by now. Anyway, I was bored at home and thought, why not create an indoor forest? Welcome everyone to The Hive Forest.
Living a minimalist life now, I don't have any tools and material at home to create my forest. There was my recycling box and quite a few food packaging cardboard boxes inside. That seemed like the perfect, and only option. I didn't even have a pencil, not that it would be much use as I can't draw. Luckliy I have a pair of kitchen scissors and started to cut free hand. I imagined what a tree should look like, but the first few turned out a cross between a club and a clover. Then I got a bit better and an hour and half later I ended with an assortment of trees of different sizes and shapes.
As I was admiring my forest, I thought they looked ok, but boring. They didn't have any life or character. Something had to be done about the leaves and trunk, but not sure what. As usual, I had no plan, nor design in mind. I started sniping away again. After every first snip at a tree, I just went with the flow. And another hour later I had what I thought looked like a happy forest - my Hive Forest.
I've done 31 trees today, each one of them is unique as I cut them free hand. There are a couple which I think oh no! What have I done, but mostly I'm pretty pleased given my level of creativity and lack of tools and material.
I'd love to do something with my Hive Forest with the Hive community. In a normal world, I would love to do Adopt a Hive Tree for a donation, but Hive doesn't have a charity, and I'm struggling to find a global charity that would be meaningful to the global community on Hive. The other thing I was thinking of, is to do a raffle, where anyone who pools in a few Hive can choose a tree which will be named after them. When all the trees are chosen, there will be a draw and the winner will win the entire pool. Thats all I can think of at the moment.
If you have any ideas on what I can do with my Hive Forest with the community please do let me know. I'd love to drum up some engagement.
