Dissecting Andrew Yang's Tweet on typical " Delete Facebook" but still use it tweet.
Yes Andrew, thank you for shedding the light that Facebook is profiting of its user information. But would you actually try to use alternative option of social media that pays its user and lets its user invest, have a voice in the governance?
I am sorry but I have to be pessimistic, you won't.
This is not my first time seeing #DeleteFacebook trending on twitter or that topic being talked about. Many of us are aware how Facebook actually operates. Yet none of us are actually making ways to cut it. Because we have been so addicted and accustomed to it.
Sure Facebook was revolutionary then, when I was 10. Now? not so much. There are many alternatives to connect with your friends and family? connect to potential customers, find partner from across the pond, you name it. Facebook is already irrelevant. It's only relevant because people are addicted to it and won't leave. It has massive user base that of course, more profitable for business.
But if you expect Facebook to pay its user? I don't think that'll happen ever in my life time.
With over 17K retweet, assuming that's not a bunch of bots or mindless retweet, that's a lot of people who got your message. But the question now is, will people actually try looking for alternative? or will talk shit about Facebook and still use it, cause muh family and friends?
If you want to monetize your information, Hive is the place. Sure, there are other alternatives just like anything out there. It's saturated. But YOU have the options to pick so stop talking about how Facebook profiting off from its user data but won't change a thing about it.
The other day, I came across another tweet that infer how the rich stays rich. So, if you think Hive and other alternative social media is a scam you have to know the definition of SCAM.
Hive isn't a scam why? because there's no advance fee, assuming fee means money not information. Signing up is free. [you can freely change the word HIVE to other altenative social media that pays].
Second scenario: IF data is the currency, ask yourself a question, how long have you been giving it away for free to other sites that won't pay you ever?
"An advance fee scheme occurs when the victim pays money to someone in anticipation of receiving something of greater value—such as a loan, contract, investment, or gift—and then receives little or nothing in return. - FBI
Now, do you expect to get rich fast and earn money after signing up to alternative social media? that won't happen darling. Like many other social interaction, you have to work your way to the ladder. Some uses money, some pure hustle. YOUR PICK.
I was never promised I'd make decent income from Hive or former Steemit. But well, I've been supporting myself to live decently from information about me that I share on both sites and I am not remotely a hustler here.
Anyhow, I would also like to emphasize that Facebook isn't just the social media. Facebook inc includes other applications that we use daily like Whatsapp. The alternative? use Riot/Matrix, telegram, Signal. It's all saturated market. But again, you won't use these options because you've been programmed to get addicted to certain application from a certain corporation. It is really a hard habit to break but you can, if you wish.
Now, say good bye to Facebook and Facebook inc. Tell your family and friends ways to reach you. If they actually care about you, they'll find you.
