Not that I have too many screen.
But how many is too many?
I used to follow this screen and workstation porn. Many of them have several screens in the same table. Their profession? varies. However majority I know followed were developers and I won't lie, I wanted to have more than 3 screens on the table. Now that I have four, I would tell the old me that it is a silly idea.
I personally had 3 screens (my phone, tablet, and laptop), then about a few weeks ago, I added another screen to my place, a laptop. Today, while having a cup of coffee, I was thinking" What am I going to use these for?"
Functionality
When I sit back this morning thinking about the screens I have, I think about its functionality. For me, phone is where I listen music and do digital payments.Tablet is where I watch shows from youtube, it's like a mini TV also mini Kindle though I don't subscribe to it anymore. Then, my old laptop for games and programming experiment. The new one, for writing and school purpose (as I told my bmom).

However, what actually happens is I still use whatever is convenient. Anything that is in front of my eyes, I will use it. My brain picks whatever is available and easy to use. It doesn't want to make some extra effort to actually use things based on its function. As the old adage says " out of sight, out of mind".
To teach my brain that these screens mean different thing has been a challenge. Like everything else, it needs repetition and discipline. Sometimes I fail to do it but today, I am coming into full circle that it is possible. For the sake of my productivity and for the sake of getting things done, it will be possible.
Distraction
Sometimes, these screens can be a huge source of distraction and not only that, eye strain. Maybe I am a noob but when I see a trader having multiple screen, all I can think about is how can they keep their eye sharp? or how much vitamin A do they gorge everyday?
Whenever I see my gadget all in 100% battery level, I can't help but to use them one by one. Sometimes and often, it hinders my workflow especially my phone. It is stupid when I can browse things from my laptop but I still grab my phone and browse something from it.
