Entremos todos a una cápsula del tiempo y vayamos a la época de los 80 y los 90. Depende de tu año de nacimiento, recordarás de esas épocas mucho o poco. En mi caso, que nací en el 72, es mucho lo que recuerdo. Colegio, amigos, paseos, familia, música, películas, televisión, todo felicidad. Y recuerdo también, aquella avalancha de advertencias que recibía por parte de familiares y maestros, en los que mencionaban que grupos adoradores de Satanás, querían consagrar el mundo a la oscuridad. Grupos que habían confabulado con disqueras y publicitarias para introducir mensajes subliminales a través de la música, comerciales, propaganda, marcas, y todo lo que representaba un medio de comunicación en masa. Esto es lo que más adelante se conocería como Pánico Satánico.
Y de esto hay miles de páginas en internet, podcast y videos. Yo hoy te lo contaré desde mi propia experiencia.
Let's all enter a
time capsuleand go back to the 80s and 90s. Depending on your year of birth, you will remember a lot or a little of those times. In my case, I was born in 72, I remember a lot. School, friends, walks, family, music, movies, television, all happiness. And I also remember the avalanche of warnings I received from relatives and teachers, in which they mentioned that Satan-worshipping groups wanted to consecrate the world to darkness. Groups that had conspired with record and advertising companies to introduce subliminal messages through music, commercials, propaganda, brands, and everything that represented a mass media. This is what would later become known asSatanic Panic.
And there are thousands of pages on the internet, podcasts and videos. I will tell you today from my own experience.
La primera vez que escuché acerca de éste tema, fue en una exposición en mi colegio. Recuerdo que un grupo de alumnos habló de los Mensajes Subliminales. Ellos explicaban cómo era introducido al mundo de manera casi invisible, una especie de lenguaje diabólico, que de alguna manera iba a ir modificando nuestra forma de pensar, hasta convertirnos en adoradores de Satanás. Sin duda alguna, esas palabras causaron en mí un gran impacto.
Su exposición fue tan completa que presentaron evidencia visual y auditiva. Ejemplo: dijeron que los dueños de Procter & Gamble habían vendido su alma al diablo, y por eso, sus productos eran #1 a nivel mundial, y muestra de ese pacto, era que las estrellas de su logo, al unirlas representaban los tres 6, que simbolizan el número de la bestia.
Apocalipsis 13:18: Aquí hay sabiduría. El que tiene entendimiento, que calcule el número de la bestia, porque el número es el de un hombre, y su número es seiscientos sesenta y seis.
Y mostraron ante nuestros ojos aquel logo con los tres 6. Les juro amigos, yo no quería usar ni la pasta dental, ni el jabón de lavar ropa, ni nada que hubiera en la casa que perteneciera a esa marca. Quedé totalmente traumatizada.
O canciones, que si las colocabas al revés, podías escuchar al intérprete recitando una serie de palabras de consagración y adoración a Satanás. Así fue como dañé cualquier cantidad de discos y cassettes, tratando de encontrar cualquier indicio de que Camilo Sesto, AC/DC, Queen, Michael Jackson y cualquier otro cantante o banda; había introducido algún mensaje subliminal oscuro, en algunas de sus canciones.
The first time I heard about this subject was in an exhibition at my school. I remember that a group of students talked about
Subliminal Messages.They explained how a kind of diabolical language was introduced to the world in an almost invisible way, which would somehow modify our way of thinking, until we became Satan worshippers. Undoubtedly, those words had a great impact on me.
Their exposition was so complete that they presented visual and auditory evidence. Example: they said that the owners of
Procter & Gamblehad sold their soul to the devil, and for that reason, their products were #1 worldwide, and a sign of that pact, was that the stars of their logo, when joined together, represented *the three 6's, which symbolize the number of the beast.
Revelation 13:18: Here is wisdom. He who has understanding, let him calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man, and his number is six hundred and sixty-six.
And they showed before our eyes that logo with the three 6s. I swear friends, I didn't want to use the toothpaste, or the laundry soap, or anything in the house that belonged to that brand. I was totally traumatized.
Or songs, that if you turned them upside down, you could hear the performer reciting a series of words of consecration and worship to Satan. That's how I damaged any number of records and cassettes, trying to find any indication that Camilo Sesto, AC/DC, Queen, Michael Jackson and any other singer or band; had introduced some dark subliminal message, in some of their songs.
A partir de éste descubrimiento y, a nivel mundial, era muy difícil comprar, vestir, escuchar, salir o ver algo, sin pasarlo primero por el filtro del Pánico Satánico. En cualquier parte veíamos al diablo, era horrible. Por un lado te sentías acosado por algo invisible, que según, podría estar entrando en tu mente sin que te dieras cuenta, y no sabrías como defenderte ante lo que no puedes ver. Y por el otro, habían personas ocultas en las sombras, esperando la oportunidad para secuestrar niños y sacrificarlos. Llevándolos a su lugar de culto, donde vestían túnicas negras o rojas, usando en su cuello o un pentagrama invertido, o una cruz invertida.
A pesar de tener muy corta edad en ese entonces para comprender muchas cosas, como las comprendo ahora, recuerdo la tensión que se sentía en el ambiente. Fue la sobremesa durante muchos días. Y no nada más en mi casa, en la casa de mis amigos, en el supermercado, en el sermón de la Iglesia, en el transporte público, por todos lados lo que se hablaba, era de eso. Y considero que para muchos fue muy injusto, porque se levantó una Segunda Inquisición y la gente comenzó a emitir juicios de valor a diestra y siniestra. Vi llorar a amigos, porque sus padres les tiraron a la basura, colecciones enteras de música, porque según, era satánica. O a otros que les prohibían ver algunas caricaturas como Los Pitufos o He-Man. O a los que les prohibieron sus consolas de video juegos, porque según el sonido del juego los iba a volver locos. En mi caso, me prohibieron salir a jugar con mis amigos, podía ser secuestrada por una secta satánica. Y no culpo a mi familia, entiendo que era su manera de sentir que me estaban protegiendo.
El diablo andaba suelto, ni a la ventana te podías asomar. Cuántas pesadillas tuve con ser secuestrada y sacrificada en un altar lúgubre que estaba o en mi edificio, o en el colegio, o en casa de un amigo. Fue algo realmente traumatizaste.
From this discovery and, worldwide, it was very difficult to buy, wear, listen, go out or see anything, without first passing it through the filter of the
Satanic Panic.Everywhere we saw the devil, it was horrible. On the one hand you felt harassed by something invisible, which, according to you, could be entering your mind without you realizing it, and you wouldn't know how to defend yourself against what you couldn't see. And on the other, there were people hiding in the shadows, waiting for the opportunity to kidnap children and sacrifice them. Although I was too young at the time to understand many things as I do now, I remember the tension in the atmosphere. It was the after-dinner conversation for many days. And not only in my house, in my friends' houses, in the supermarket, in the church sermon, in the public transportation, everywhere what was being talked about, was about that. And I consider that for many it was very unfair, because a
Second Inquisitionarose and people began to make value judgments left and right. I saw friends cry because their parents threw away entire collections of music because, according to them, it was satanic. Or others who were forbidden to watch some cartoons likeThe Smurfs or He-Man.Or those who were forbidden their video game consoles because, according to the sound of the game, it was going to drive them crazy. In my case, I was forbidden to go out and play with my friends, I could be kidnapped by a satanic sect. And I don't blame my family, I understand that it was their way of feeling that they were protecting me.
The devil was on the loose, you couldn't even look out the window. How many nightmares I had of being kidnapped and sacrificed on a gloomy altar that was either in my building, or at school, or at a friend's house. It was really traumatizing.
Afortunadamente, así como llegó, se fue desvaneciendo en el tiempo. Y poco a poco, la gente dejó de hablar del tema. Las preocupaciones que trajo consigo la década de los 90, se llevaron al Pánico Satánico. Y para todos, la vida retomó de nuevo su ”normalidad”. Recuerdo que para el cumpleaños de uno de mis amigos, le grabé en un cassette, algunas de sus canciones favoritas que anteriormente sus padres le habían tirado a la basura. Ese chico, amó ese regalo. Y atesoró ese cassette hasta que el tiempo lo dañó.
Fortunately, just as it arrived, it faded with time. And little by little, people stopped talking about it. The worries that the decade of the 90's brought with it, took away the Satanic Panic. And for everyone, life resumed its
"normalcy" again. I remember that for one of my friend's birthday, I recorded him on a cassette, some of his favorite songs that previously his parents had thrown in the trash. That boy, he loved that gift. And he treasured that cassette until time damaged it.
En Conclusión. El Pánico Satánico demostró, que la mente humana puede ser en la mayoría de los casos, muy débil. Fue una tendencia que se levantó sin ningún fundamento. No sabemos a ciencia cierta, si simplemente fue un experimento social que se salió de control, y que dañó a mucha gente que realmente era inocente. Todos nos vimos afectados: adultos, jóvenes, niños.
No necesitamos que una ”canción al revés” nos diga que entreguemos nuestra alma a la oscuridad y descendamos a lo más bajo de nuestra esencia. Tampoco la imagen estereotipada de un ser con cuernos, cola y un tridente, diciéndonos el mal que debemos hacer. Esas cosas no funcionan de esa manera. Hay personas en este mundo, que en su sano juicio, realmente pueden ser malignas.
In Conclusion. The
Satanic Panicproved, that the human mind can be in most cases, very weak. It was a trend that arose without any foundation. We do not know for sure, if it was simply a social experiment that got out of control, and that harmed many people who were really innocent. We were all affected: adults, young people, children.
We do not need a
"backwards song"telling us to surrender our soul to darkness and descend to the lowest part of our essence. Nor the stereotypical image of a being with horns, a tail and a trident, telling us the evil we must do. Those things don't work that way.There are people in this world, who in their right mind, can really be evil.
