1. Appreciation:
Thanks @vivianne and @dodovietnam for introducing and guiding me to this platform to sharing my stories and journey 😘. I'm excited to be a part of this community and would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.
2. Brief info:
My name is Nguyen Thao, born and raised in south Vietnam. I love the warm climate here, which I think contributes to my warm personality. I love all things nature including the oceans, mountains, hills, rivers, the sun, the moon and stars, trees, grass, flowers, animals, etc. I'm fortunate enough to be living in a small beach town with the ocean surrounded by mountains and warm weather year round.
Some interesting facts about me:
- I was born in a remote area without a hospital or doctors/nurses.
- First time I traveled outside of Vietnam, I went half way around the world.
- I once drove a pick-up truck, but I haven't owned a moto vehicle for 4 years.
- I once had an Irish last name.
- Comfort foods for my soul: a cup of coffee or tea, a few chapters in a great book, a hug, a casual but deep conversation, and of course good real food 😄
3. My hobbies:
My hobbies include traveling, hiking, reading, cooking and eating, watching movies, listening to podcasts, making YouTube videos, volunteering and helping others, learning new skills, discussing various topics with others and most of all enjoying every small and beautiful moment of life.
4. My lifestyle:
After years of studying & working in the US, I discovered simple living and enjoy it so much I made it my lifestyle. As of now I am a minimalist and digital nomad. I don't travel frequently and prefer to move to different cities to live for some time and explore as a local. Among my favorite cities are: San Diego, Da Nang, Da Lat and my current location - Vung Tau. I'd love to share with you all these destinations, the scenery, the food and people. As 2021 is coming to an end, I'm planning for my next move, an exciting and thrilling experience!
5. A little bit more...
Personally, I am an easy going person and can make friends anywhere I go. Since moving back to Vietnam, I have been able to meet great people who enrich my life and experience tremendously. Even though there have been difficulties and challenges, I have to say that life is good to me and I am grateful. Moreover, these challenges lead me to the path of learning and understanding about myself in depth. I was introduced to meditation practice, to self love and self development. I am more aware now than ever that my major life goal is to live with meaning to my fullest potential. My goal for 2022 is to design and live a balanced life in which I work hard and play hard and help as many of my friends as I am capable of.
I hope to share and encourage others to lead a simple and balanced lifestyle, to be more gentle to our Earth while focusing on self love, health, family, finance, self development, community, inner peace, kindness and generosity.
I can't say writing is one of my hobbies. Because writing and journaling is more of a necessity for me. I find it much easier to take a pen and pour my thoughts into paper than to sit and talk about them. I find it comforting to be able to write. By writing, I can think more clearly and organize my thoughts more neatly to present and share them. I have lots of notebooks, notes written on loose papers, on envelops, and lately I keep my daily journal on a word document for each month. It has become a good habit and the value I receive from writing down small daily achievements is as rewarding as accomplishing a big goal. Moreover, I have gathered a group of girlfriends to practice journaling daily and we all receive positive energy and support from each other. This is one of my top favorite activities during the 4 month lockdown period in Vietnam.
I love a challenge and writing my blog more frequently is one of them. I am also working on two challenges: beginner in running (for my body) and beginner in speaking Chinese (for my mind). If anyone in the community wants to join me, I'd be thrilled. It is nice to meet you here!
