While all of us holding HIVE are celebrating and enjoying the massive pump right now it is also a great opportunity for the community. Between all of the media coverage over the past couple of months combined with the massive increases in token price we are witnessing, this is probably the most exposure that the chain has ever had going back to the old days.
People follow the money and while lots of new people are hearing about #HIVE this week due to the green market and 500% increases it gives us the best chance to bring new people into the community and get them active. There are lots of ways to do this but the main thing for me is that we are being productive about it.
Any user with enough RC's can claim free account invites and with sites like Hiveinvite.com it's become very easy to set people up with a new account and even delegate enough HP for them to get started.

The demand is out there if we can take advantage of all the publicity around the price and hardfork.
With communities I do feel it's a lot better time to bring people onto the chain as we can now target smaller demographics and start them in the right place. Communities for artists, writers, poets, crypto enthusiasts ect.... It is much easier to be seen and get interaction when you are posting relevant content in the right places. This is where I would like to see a huge focus put for user onboarding and user retention.
If you have a small community with enough voting power to get all decent posts over a dollar then it is enough to keep people motivated and posting. A person posting ten times for 5c tends to lose interest pretty quick as they feel lost and ignored. Communities should help us to do much better this time around compared to the last time our token was riding high. It all depends on the behavior of the users obviously but the people left now tend to be the ones most focused on building a better platform instead of just trying to gain a few dollars.
The demand is there right now for what we have so lets all try to supply it and bring in a few more people. I find twitter is a great place to start as it has a huge crypto community and it's easy to target potential new users. I posted up this tweet yesterday and had 8 of the accounts set up that day.

To do it I used the hiveinvite.com site as I found it really easy to set up account tokens and create links that can be shared to the people. The set up process is really easy for the new users as well so that they don't get lost along the way.

At the moment it costs 5.82MM RC to claim a free account token. The site tells you how many accounts you have the power to create or you can check all of your account stats on https://beeme.icu/?account=niallon11 if you wan't to know more.

Since my RC is not at full strength I can only claim one token right now but it's great if you can start building them up every week. I can get about 2 accounts every three days which will add up very fast if I keep claiming them. The process is really easy as well here. You can also claim them on your wallet page of peakd.com but mine were not going through properly this week for some reason but this has worked perfectly so far.

Just click on the button for free claim if you have enough Resource Credits and this screen will pop up. From there you will need your private active key to confirm the account operation and an account token will appear on your balance. It's as easy as that.
The next logical step is to click the button for "Invite someone now" which will let you set up a link to a new account.

There are different options here to invite users but for my purpose I uncheck the first box which allows me to create a direct link to the new account creation. I will create two at the same time as I have multiple account tokens that I can use.
I will delegate 25SP to this new account being created as we all know that accounts are no good without a little power to start them off. (15HP should be plenty for most new users.) I've set the invite to expire in 3 days and boom. One brand new HIVE account ready and waiting to be claimed for whoever you send the link to.
The process for claiming the account is made very simple as well for the new user. If the person clicks on the new link that you have created they will be brought to a pass phrase section.
- They are told to write down the new phrase and save it for future use.
- They can then choose a username for the new account.
- They are asked for the previous saved phrase to test if they wrote it down.
- Then if they provide that phrase they are given a proper set of keys for the new account and asked to finish their request.
Important: To finish creating the account you will need to confirm it with your active key once they have sent the account request on hiveinvite. You will recieve an email to notify you that an account has been set up and you just need to go to hiveinvite and use you active key to confirm the account creation and delegation to it.
Let's take advantage of the hype and try to bring in some new users. Fill our communities and add more developers to the eco-system. We are pretty much in the perfect storm of publicity, hype, price and people having a lot of spare time to start a new hobby. Why not make it #HIVE
