The Social Media Industry has been around from way back since the world came into existence. Even though, there is no internet until the 6th of August, 1991 , I am of the opinion that there have been traditional means of social media such as the use of post offices and town criers.
I know a lot of people might not agree with my idea of saying post offices and town criers are good examples of Social Media that have been in existence before the internet was first invented for military purposes by a British computer scientists in the person of Sir Tim Berners-Lee in 1989.
Even though it has been over 30 years that the social media on the internet started proper. I can boldly say that the two and the half years experience I have garnered in the social media industry so far is enough to make me different the good from the bad. My experience and Idea about the social media is enough to make me different the men from the boy when it comes to social media platforms.
We've got web2 and web3 social media platforms. A lot of people are getting tired of web2 platforms which includes the likes of Facebook, YouTube and Twitter because the only thing they offer their users includes but not limited to Centralization, Censorship and infringement on freedom of speech.
Quite a good number of blockchain-based social media platforms also referred to as web3 platforms have been created in a bid to help offer the necessary solutions to the problems of web2 platforms with the promise to provide its users with a unique platform that is completely decentralized, transparent, secured, scalable and promotes anti-censorship and offer them total freedom of speech for their contents.
No doubt, everyone's voice deserves to be heard and this is exactly what web3 platforms are here to bring forth to the table. Not even the government or the powerful ones should be able to stop you and I from getting our opinions and ideas known to the world. Come to think of it, we all have equal rights and it's hightime we forced the governments and those in powers to practice what they preach.
The power is in our hands. You know why? We are the people and we are the voice of the Social media industry. We are the community and we are the backbone of the social media industry. We are in the era when everything needs to be democratic in nature and where everything should be done by the people and for the people.
When we talk about a platform that meet all this description I made in the previous paragraph, then the only one I can take responsibility for and express confidence in right at the moment is no other but the one and only blockchain-based social media platform that was created by the community and for the community as a fork of Steem few months ago.
