Dear Hivers,
If you can use a little imagination, here's an exercise you will enjoy. Just imagine walking into a big fancy room. This room is filled with the 100 most inspirational people. They are all sitting. Everyone's here – from your favorite celebrities to inspirational figures.
And the best part?
You are tonight's host.
In fact, everyone is waiting for you to grab the mic to ask the single most important question about life. And so you immediately ask:
"So guys, what exactly is the purpose of life?"
The responses starts flying from every corner of the room. From the crowd emerges Obama telling you the purpose is to “contribute” to the society. It is all about adding value as a human being.
Then spiritual teacher Buddha will tell you to live life — and enjoy the present.
Leonardo DiCaprio? He believes "the purpose is to be happy."
Here's where it gets interesting:
When you collect all the answers combined with your own personal experience, and put them in a document – you will begin to see a pattern. This common pattern shows you why are we doing... what are we doing right now.
You will discover the pattern is to do something.
This could be an activity — action — or contribution. This "do something" condensed in a single word is create.
And this create is our real purpose.
This is the truth of life.
If we don't create anything, we will start developing a strange feeling within us. On the one hand, we feel like we haven't achieved anything. And mentally, we will also start accepting nihilism — a belief where life is meaningless.
You simply can’t live with that feeling for weeks, months, or even decades. A caterpillar has to get out of its cocoon. It is simply a matter of time.
That is why we have to create. We are all born to create.
Just think about it. As humans, we are continuously creating something — something new. From new languages to new products and new inventions. The fun fact is that we borrowed all these ideas from the nature around us.
You see, a seed is no longer a seed. With time, a seed turns into a small plant and then a tree. This is the "creation" process where the old turns into something new.

Take the above image, for example. To the normal eye, it might seems like this man is doing nothing, right? I found a lot of people like him when I was walking around the holy river Ganga in India. Hundreds of them sat like this.
The fact is: they were all doing something – they were creating inner peace. It was done through meditation.
Deep down, this creation process forms the core of our living.
We are the creators, and it is incredibly important to continue our creation process. From poetry to graphics to writing — we are creating something. In fact, the more we create, the more fulfilled we feel.
(There is a reason why creating a post – hitting the publish button here on Hive – also feels great).
Without creation, the world wouldn't exist. The galaxy was created. The universe was created. Nature was created. And we are simple co-creating with them. Anyone who doesn't walk this path will feel left out – and miss life.
But if you are unable to create something new? Or if you haven't added any creativity in your life? Then here are a couple of things you can do:
#1. Pick the common:
For me, it is to write regularly. It is also the reason I started blogging. Writing copy. Creating marketing strategies. And even publishing articles here on Hive.
If you can invest one hour a day creating something that you are familiar with? Then not only are you feeding your mind the right food but also inviting miracles into your life.
#2. Pick the uncommon:
Perhaps you want to pick up a new skill? Learn blockchain coding? Or simply explore digital marketing, start a business, and so on...
Anything outside of your zone brings out the creativity process hidden within you.
#3: Model others:
We are all learning, and we can learn faster when we have the right people around us. You can start modelling others to pick up their way of living and add them to yours.
This way you are creating a new you — changing your old habits and adding something new.
#4: Let yourself free:
There are two ways to move your mind. First, you can aim at something (a goal) and achieve it.
Second, you let your mind wander (flow) and see where your thoughts take you. Moment you allow your mind to be free — you are inviting new thoughts that creates new ideas.
You can put these ideas into action to start a new business, story, or follow your dreams.
To sum it up, if you see anyone wondering about the purpose of life – and why we do what we do... now you know the answer.
We are born to create.
As mentioned, without this creation process, the world wouldn't exist. The galaxies were created. The nature was created. And seed creates plants... and we create new stuffs.
Our job, as human, is to continue this creation process.
You can pick anything – from writing here on Hive to creating music, poetry, products, businesses, and so on.
After all, we only live once. So why not create something valuable?
So over to you:
What are you creating right now? What new projects, or things are you working on? What really keeps you busy? Let me know through the comment section below.
Cheers,
Sid
