I used to turn my nose up at digital painting. Not that I thought it wasn't worthwhile, I merely thought it wasn't for me, and that I could never intuitively work digitally. Since I received an ipad as a present a few years ago it has become one of my favorite ways to work.
Now I find I can create images I never dreamed about on any other medium. I can combine the softness of airbrush with the intuitive action of drawing. I can experiment and re-edit and combine elements with more freedom than any other medium. I still don't quite delve as deep into my mind palace as I do with hands-on medium; but for fun, surreal illustrations; Procreate is a godsend.
This first image it is part of a drawing that I wish to separate as the two halves I cannot seem to bring together stylistically, although they look good separately. I like the dreamy quality of this image; from a deeper level of my mind-palace than most of my procreate work.
This second piece is a Brian Froud/ John Bauer inspired composition. It is not close to finished but the basic shapes are worked out. I am attempting to master the depiction of fairy style creatures.
This image is modeled on a style of one-eyed bird I have been drawing for years. I still can't make op my mind about the color pallet.
A new interpretation of strange creatures I used to draw that look like moles with petal faces. I was making a series on this long ago where one was searching for the lost light of kindness. I kind of destroyed the older work, perhaps I will redo them one day.
Above is an attempt to create a cover for a story I was working on. I was actually going to call it "The Undergunge" but there was no room for more letters. "The Under" is the name of a VR game I just found out; oh well. Most names are used more than once anyway
This is going to be an NFT once Ethereum movies to POS. ( If it hasn't already)
Above is the most finished of my unpublished work. I am still trying to regain some of the softer feelings it lost as I lightened it. Another of my series of potential animals on other planets.
