Barely one month ago, the #quarantinechallenges emerged as insighted by @anomadsoul and sponsored by @blocktrades. While many saw it as a mere contest, I saw it as an opportunity to get checked on how to maximize these lockdown days due to Corona virus pandemic.
I never thought we will have to stay indoors for more than two weeks, but the way things are going and the rate at which the figures are rising, the days at home may tend to extend to three months. However, the concerns now are that of the economy. Many businesses have closed and others seized operations, this has a way of getting to affect the overall economies of the affected nations.
In Nigeria for instance, only the food, pharmaceutical and sanitary industries are really performing well. Agriculture that has been relegated to the rear has now found relevance for the rich and poor alike.
In my entry post for the quarantine goals, I stated that I will have to create more time for family, personal development, strategy for improved finances, bookworks, research and programming. In this review, I will be showing off my successes in some areas so far.
Planting Season Completed
My family have successfully completed our planting season. We do not have a very large agricultural land, the little has been maximized to grow arable crops at least for subsistence use. The cassava we uprooted in the below farm was able to produce a 60kg bag of Harris which would carry for the next one month.
After doing the plowing operation on the farmland, my next assignment was to cut th cassava stems for planting while others helped to put do the planting proper.
Asides cassava, other crops grown include corn, pumpkin, spices and other vegetables.
Already, the crops are beginning to sprout u p and we'll be planning for the first weeding operation soonest.
On finances
The bull run if hive has made content creation to be more lucrative. I am encouraged to plan for more quality content creation as I seem to be beating the regular income rush before the beginning of the lockdown.
I will next be resuming my personal environmental research in a nearby drainage discharge point. This lockdown is providing ample time for such time demanding researches. I will also be Sharing outcomes of the research here.
Conclusion
I am so dedicated to bringing out the best of this quarantine period. I'm yet to begin my coding classes for the want if a platform that would be more easy for me and that would enable me to learn a coding language useable in more than one blockchain.
I have been challenged by yet another event that I should maximize this quarantine period to sharpen my engineering skills especially with seeing how to incorporate ICT solutions to my already designed systems. This would be used for my professional engineering registration towards the end of this quarter.
All the above outlined are specifically for my personal building and equipping for the days ahead. We don't know what would happen after covid has been handled. I'm certain that it will change the way people relate, as such, crucial for one to earn the necessary skills to thrive in those days.
Again, I thank @Anomadsoul for thinking this challenge which is an effective way of utilizing the quarantine days. Surely, we could still impact ourselves and others without physically meeting people.
