One of the theoretical aspects always emphasized by methodology professors is that research is the result of a series of procedures carried out to support, refute or validate hypotheses; however, it is important to point out that these postulates are not always fulfilled.
Now, when in an investigation data are obtained that do not reveal accurate information, or when it is difficult for a researcher to answer the "Why" of a certain behavior, it is decided to make a list or brainstorming usually using the cause and effect model, in order to find the most probable cause, or the one that induces the greatest effect on the variable being investigated.

I wanted to make the above summary, a little to contextualize and exemplify the significance of the results recently socialized by the World Health Organization (WHO) on the origin of COVID-19, whose statements have revealed some keys to their scientific research.
It is relevant to point out that the experts sent to China by the WHO to investigate the origin of COVID-19 openly ruled out that the virus came from a laboratory leak, therefore, this hypothesis is extremely improbable, however, one element that the researchers did emphasize is that related to the origin of COVID-19 through transmission via an intermediate animal host (from animal to animal and then to humans).
Transmission through an intermediate animal host is the behavior that has been associated as the most probable cause, therefore, this research variable will require a more in-depth approach to determine which species are involved in the transmission of COVID-19.

It is understood that the results are not conclusive, and the researchers even suggest that the virus could have first circulated in a city other than Wuhan, which is why they are recommending to extend the study and examine blood samples and animal reservoirs both in China and in other countries.
