From the days of computers where we were able to see virtual objects to the days of phones which made visuals clearer, we have loved to see innovations in the virtual world. A lot of research has been going on about the next of visuals and we all thought it was going to be hologram but it didn’t go that way rather, it has shifted into virtual and augmented reality.
What’s Virtual Reality (VR)?
Virtual reality is completely throwing a person into another world, seeing something completely different from the real world. The user goes into a complete simulation becoming a part of the environment.
What’s Augmented Reality (AR)?
This is called Partial change in current environment through the addition of a new visual character. Snap Chat give us a little view of how this works. With Augmented reality, the environment do not change, rather there are a few additions to make the environment fun.
This said, augmented and virtual reality are different but as an individual, I will prefer an AR world to a VR world. Virtual reality would become a thing for gamers and for recreational purposes, but there is a possibility that Augmented Reality will become a part of our day to day lives in the future.
What I think our AR world will look like in years to come
Since I am prefer AR to VR (not meaning I do not like the both), it is true that Augmented reality might be the way of the future. Think about a future where you have a glass on with augmented maps, showing eateries, hospitals, location, worship places, businesses and many more. Or a very little device which has everything needed from stock price to weather and other things displayed around the face.
Think of a world where anyone can learn anything using augmented reality without displacing the real world. I can have a virtual teacher teaching me chemistry even though I am a physics student. What would you say about having a simple Augmented Reality glass that can show the numbers of rooms in an hotel virtually, telling how many rooms are occupied and all you have to do is use the help of an Artificial intelligence to reserve a room.
Conclusion
To me, there is more to Augmented Reality compared to virtual reality. The world choosing Augmented Reality will be a plus to our technological advancement. Augmented reality has the tendency to change our way of live drastically.
