In this opportunity id like to share with you the history behind the name of this popular rock band.
First for those who maybe doesnt know about this band, Id like to make a short introduction. Breaking Benjamin its a rock band with straight grunge influence, has founded in 1998 by Benjamin Burnley. Until now they have released 6 studio albums.
The history behind the bands name, has a unique and maybe unexpected real world history behind it
¨This was a like a long long time ago -Way before Breaking Benjamin... way before any success. I used to play at coffeehouses and at open mic nights. I used to do that, just me and my acoustic guitar, and I would be Benjamin. Thats it just Benjamin,¨ Burnley said.
Regularity attending one specific open mic night BUrnley describes his troubles with the host
¨I would go to this bar every week, every Thursday. It was called the Gooseberry. But the guy didnt like me for some reason I dont know why, but he dindt like me. Probably because i would play a long time becuse people would want me to go, and he didnt like that and wanted to play more. I guess
so but the point is he didnt like me from the let-go¨ BUrnley say.
One night, it proved to be too much for the disgruntled host
¨Like Kurt Kobain, id take my guitar and i knock the mic stand ever, but I never smash everything on stage. Id just do that, and hi has a microphone and the shell part it just fell off, but it snaps back on.
After a few more acts and the conclusion of a long night, the host back up in stage and grabbed the mic, preparing to finish up the evening.
Anyway, at the end of the night, he was thanking everybody for coming up and playing and he goes ¨ Oh yeah, id like to thanks Benjamin for breaking my f***** microphone¨ and thats where Breaking Benjamin came from¨
And thats the history behind the name of the band.
