I can't say for certain if it is actually Strava or my phone but every now and then I get some rather crazy results from my exercise. This happened recently when because my knees were hurting I didn't feel like making the problem worse by manning up and going on another run anyway. I did want to get some cardio in though so I went for a long walk with no particular destination in mind.

Now if this information was actually true I would be supremely proud of myself. Lately, I am barely able to maintain a sub-8-minute km pace over just 3km, let alone 12 of them. I almost never go on 12km jogs anyway because I get too tired and too sweaty - probably too dehydrated as well. I knew when I saw this readout that the time spent walking was probably correct, but certainly not the pace. This is one thing I really like about the free version of Strava because it will allow you to dig into the details of your run without paying for a subscription. To be honest I don't really know what benefits the paid version could possibly offer, I suppose there is something there.
Here is what my splits looked like and you don't have to be a world-class athlete like me in order to realize that the information in the picture above is untrue.

The problems began at km number 7 and I have no idea why my GPS or Strava started to bug out at that point. If my life depended on it, I might be able to do a sub 3 minute km for a single km, but no more than that. Every km after that point is also bogus because I was wearing sandals, and there is no chance I would be able to maintain that pace especially after already doing a previous 6km. Perhaps if zombies were chasing me.
The only thing I can come up with is that towards the end of my walk I was in an urban area near to where I live and perhaps my phone was connecting to various wi-fi spots along the way and therefore my Strava thought I was jumping from place to place at a remarkable pace.
I did in fact go 12 km, but not at the pace that it was suggesting. Just keep this in mind whenever you are using Strava that you should likely look at your splits to confirm your actual pace. This was easy for me to determine because I already knew that I was walking the entire time and never got to the point where I was ever running.
Be sure to check your total output before you get too excited about a run where Strava tells you that you absolutely killed it!
