Description from Strava:
I volunteered at parkrun again yesterday as they needed people. We really need more of the regular runners to do it now and then so others can run. I was tail-walking, so I still got some activity. I had a nice chat with a lady who used to live around here, but moved up north. She and her husband were down here again and he was running. We had a little incident with one of the anglers facing off with a swan that was after his bait. We managed to coax it back into the water.
Today I was up for a long run and decided to tackle the Hicca Way down to Ickleford. I have not run that way in a while. There have been some times when I got a little lost, but there were no issues today. The path goes over several big fields, but the farmers mark it with tractor tracks. This does mean that the ground is quite uneven so I have to tread carefully. It was glorious out there.
At Ickleford I follow the road under the railway, past the lavender farm and then take a track over the hill to the Wilbury pub. There are great views from up there. Then I just follow the road past Letchworth to come in the back of Fairfield and on to Arlesey. It makes for a fairly long run, but my legs were okay. I was actually quicker than I expected at times. I had intended to take it easy, but I go with how I feel.
Since then we have been working in the garden again. I am finally getting the pond installed. It just means getting the hole just right so everything is level and then filling all the gaps. I shall fill it gradually as I put earth around the gaps outside it.
We found a hedgehog in the garden today. It seemed very sluggish, so we gave it some water and catfood. It had a feed and then disappeared. It has been a while since we saw one here.
Run free and care for nature.
