Description from Strava:
Doing the pacing at parkrun yesterday felt like I was holding back as I usually run quicker, so I wanted to go for it today.
There may be some rain later, but it was just right this morning. For a change I did my long route clockwise. When I got to the school I turned left onto the long path across the fields. My route may look like a figure eight, but I did not actually cross over.
I did not notice much new on my run apart from progress on the houses being built by the school. Before it looked like they were just surveying or doing archaeology, but now foundations are going in. This is part of a huge building wave around here.
I came back through Etonbury Wood and over the new footbridge. Getting up that slope was hard work with my tired legs. I took the shortcut across the fields to get home. It looks like lots have people have worn a path there. The kids will go that way to school.
I was fairly happy with this run as it is an improvement on my performance of the last few months. Strava reckons I could do 5km in 26 minutes, but that feels like a stretch. I may try using the pacing app to hit some better times to work down to that. I have to resist the urge to go too fast on the first lap.
It has been a good week of running. I need to keep mixing up the workouts to build some strength and pace.
Today I have also been working in the garden. We have some old gravel we are re-using for paths, but it needs a bit of a wash and that is hard work. We put it in a basket and rinse it in a tub. The paths will go around our raised vegetable beds. We also need to order a potting shed for that area that I will have to put together.
Enjoy your Sunday and run free!
