I just finished a 24.007km running that lasted about 2hh:23mm:52ss !

I think this is number nine. I started last May doing monthly half marathons, but did not manage one in December. I have only just made it this month. It was really hard work today.
The weather has changed again with frosty nights and sunny days. When I set off it was cold and misty with cars using their fog lights. It brightened up as I went on.
I headed for the Greenway to run anticlockwise around Letchworth. I took a shortcut through the cemetery by The Wilbury (aka The World's End). I knew a full loop would be further than a half so I could afford to shorten some parts. It was quite busy out there with lots of people walking or cycling.
I could tell it was not going to be a quick one, but I just wanted to do the distance. Mind you, I managed to catch up with a couple of lady cyclists when they stopped some time after passing me. I did not have any runners going my way to chase, but was not overtaken either. I actually find some speed for going up some of the smaller hills.
The oddest sight was a guy sweeping in the underpass under the A1(M). Maybe there was some broken glass there, but he would have had to go some way to fetch a broom. I did not ask him about it.
The last quarter was a bit of a struggle with some short walks. When I reached the Letchworth tip the queue ran all the way along the road leading to it. I need to dump some garden stuff myself, but have to go elsewhere as it is a different council and we have to book a slot.
I cut a big corner by going through the Grange where parkrun happens. Coming down the hill after that was almost painful as my legs took a bit of a pounding and did not really want to go quicker. Then it was back through Fairfield and home, but I stopped the watch when I felt I just could not run any more.
This really seems to be my limit as far as distance is concerned and I do not seem to be getting quicker, but just being able to run that long is something.
Run free and stay well.
