Hello everyone in the Hive Ghana Community. I am excited to participate in this community. It's my first time here. So for this week's prompt I will be writing on Work Ethics.
I believe every organization or firm has some set goals or objectives which every employee and yes even the employer should follow and adhere to enable them to achieve their aim. There is this popular adage that says as you lay your bed so will you lie on it. An employer right from the start should set a working environment where every member should be able to work at ease. He or she should be able to create mutual professionalism which explains that every member of the firm is important. From the top ,down to the bottom that is the least important person such as the security staff.
I will be so specific about work ethics in my profession as a teacher. Yes Work Ethics can affect the productivity of the staff member both negatively and positively. Negatively in the sense that the things which would have been done and achieved may turn out to be unachievable, and this can pull down the firm's growth and productivity. Work ethics can affect productivity positively in the sense that the customers will from afar admire their labour and effort geared into the business and as such patronize it which will bring about growth and increase even financially.
In a profession like teaching. A teacher must observe all the ethics to make him or her a real professional in that field. There are some habits you must possess, which will not only make you have some sense of belonging but also gain respect. This Ethics must be emphasized with terms and conditions applicable which will urge members to carry them out. Some work ethics includes Understanding others' feelings, like knowing how others feel at a certain period of time and how to relate in order to avoid being an agent of a problem to others.
Another ethics includes Treating others the way you would love to be treated. This matters a lot in every organization. Employers and employees should learn to treat people the way they would love to be treated without looking down at the rank or level of the person involved.
Another ethics includes Understanding that at times people have bad days and vice versa. With this understanding you will be able to relate well which will not in any way lead to problems in the organization.
The world will really be a nice and peaceful place to live in if simple work ethics are followed in our workplaces .If employers cultivate the habit of actively listening to complaints and reports before judging and concluding a case ,it will wipe and roll away problems in the firm. If workers are faithful in their discussion,this would also contribute to a friendly and cooperative working environment. If people take off pride and apologize when necessary this would go a long way to building a healthy workplace. If people would respect boundaries in offices this would also save each other from problem.If employers give equal opportunities to staff members,that is without being biased, this would also help as well to make the workplace a fun-filled environment. If people know how and when to talk in their offices I think this would also help to build a workplace where people would envy and desire to be.
My advice to anyone who finds his or herself in an environment where work ethics is poor ,such a person can start by doing things right and others will one day imitate and learn .It may seem to be difficult but keep dreaming of being that good person one day your good deeds will pay and reward will come forth. Build a peaceful place where all can live.
