You know, sometimes I sit and think about how easy life used to be. We really used to be happy. Back then, happiness was so simple. It was running outside barefoot, eating biscuits with tea, watching cartoons after school, or just laughing with friends over nothing. We didn’t know stress. Our only worry was homework and maybe getting caught when you came home late.
Now look at us. Adulthood has turned happiness into luxury. We wake up tired, go to work tired, and still sleep tired. Weekends? Just two days to do laundry, clean, and prepare to suffer again on Monday. Growing up looked so sweet when we were kids, but nobody told us about rent, bills, and the pain of seeing “insufficient balance” at the ATM.
Back then, happiness was free. Now it feels like everything has a price tag. Even peace of mind comes in monthly subscriptions—Netflix, Wi-Fi, electricity, you name it. The funny thing is, as kids we couldn’t wait to grow up. We thought adulthood was freedom, staying up late, and eating whatever we wanted. Well, yes, we stay up late now—but it’s anxiety keeping us awake.
Sometimes I really miss those days. No deadlines, no responsibilities, just pure joy. Now it feels like we’re all just pretending to be fine while secretly wishing someone would come and press the reset button. Honestly, growing up is the biggest scam of all time.
We really used to be happy. Now we just drink water and hope life doesn’t beat us too much this week.
