I was speaking to someone some days ago and she told me she hasn’t gotten the opportunity to spend hbd because she’s far from all the hivers she knows. I didn’t understand until she explained further about how she thought to be able to pay with hbd, you’d have to scan a QR code. That’s when I realized that people are only familiar with the scan method where you scan the QR code generated from the invoice to make payment.
If you remember how to buy airtime with hbd, there is no need to scan anything because after the invoice is generated, the invoice also comes as written so you just copy and paste it into v4v and make payment.Trust me, it’s really not complicated at all when you try it.
Let’s try one transaction with this scenario. So let’s say I need money in my mtn mobile money account and then I call @yahuzah for help. In this case he’s going to send me Ghana cedis and I’ll pay with hbd. The only thing yahuzah has to do is to check how much the amount in Ghana cedis is in hbd and then send the mobile money to me. He can do that using coin base. He will now create an invoice on v4v and send me the link to the invoice. Why link? Because I’m not physically present at where he is to scan the QR code so he’ll rather send me the QR code in a link form.
The moment I tap on the link, it will send me right to my keychain to confirm and make payment. Simple right?
Let me do this again but the Ghanaian way. I go to buy kenkey but I’m stranded because my money isn’t enough. I need momo so I ask Yahuzah for help and he sends me momo. I have to pay him so he creates an invoice and sends it to me.The invoice is a link this time since I’m not physically present at where he is to scan the code. I tap on the link and I confirm payment. Just like that, I’ve spent hbd.
I know we’re all so focused on face to face transactions because of the scanning of the QR code but I’m just here to remind you that you can still make use of the invoice link if the person supposed to make payment is not close to where you are. In summary, if you’re physically present, you can scan the code but if not, the code can still be copied to you in a link form and then you make payment.I really hope this will help us understand things better.
