At some point in our lives, we have all wished to have some superpowers to help us do extraordinary things, maybe because of some situation we were in or because people looked upon us for help but we were helpless.
If I had some sort of superpower, I would want one that would benefit people around me and not for selfish reasons or to cause havoc, so without a second thought, I would love to have the ability to resurrect a dead person.
The reason I chose this superpower is because of my experience in life. I have lost a lot of loved ones in death, and it's so painful. Some were family, some were friends, others were neighbours, and some were colleagues.
I hate to see people cry. I hate to see people helpless and brokenhearted, and that's exactly what death does to people when it steals away their loved ones.
Just recently, on the 14th of January, something happened on my street, and I wished I had some superpower to end it all.
There's a particular hospital on my street that is the closest to people around my neighbourhood. As of 11 p.m., I heard a voice lamenting, and when I looked through the window, I saw a man and woman who seemed to be the parents of a particular boy named Daniel. The dad carried the boy on his shoulder while the mom kept calling his name as they both ran to the hospital.
I was drafting a post at that point, but then I paused for a moment to observe what was going on. After some minutes, these two ran out crying, and the man was just screaming, "God, please, wake this boy up!!" The little boy had died. He held his lifeless child in his arms as he cried so much alongside his wife. The mom kept saying, "Daniel, is this how you left your mommy?" The scenario was so emotional for me, even though I didn't know who they were. I shed a tear because I could feel their pain.
Death is something that ends our hopes, our plans, our goals, and our vision in life. An adage says, "So long as a person is alive, such a person still has hope, but a dead person has no hope again."
If I had the superpower to raise dead people, I would have immediately called the boy by his name and raised him so that his parents could stop crying and ease their pain.
Death leaves an unexplainable kind of vacuum in our hearts that even time cannot heal, simply because whenever we recall what our loved ones used to do or say, we miss them even more.
Having the resurrection superpowers will make people feel safe around me; even if they fall sick, they know with me around they will not die, and even when they encounter life-threatening situations, they know I can bring them back to life. This will help them remain positive and hopeful in the face of adversity or life challenges.
In addition to that, I will not have to fear losing my loved ones at the hands of death.
