Responding to this prompt took me down memory lane and how this simple life hack saved me from embarrassment countless times.
Fast forward to the time, when I travelled with my cousin to a state far away from home for an impromptu job interview, I was surfing the net when I stumbled on the offer, I knew I was qualified for the job, however the distance was a barrier for me until I saw the pay involved.
I quickly applied for the job and to my greatest surprise, I was shortlisted for an interview so I had to travel with my cousin to the location for safety purposes.
Being a fashion designer, I've learned some life hacks concerning clothing, so I brought out the shirt and pants I had intentions to rock to the venue for the interview and then I folded it properly before embarking on the journey.
On getting to the location, I realized the clothes were almost rumpled because of the way the bags were handled on the bus, I quickly brought them out but there was no place to hang them since the room we were In was a friend's hostel who had limited resources to make wardrobes.
I began to think of a way out to hang my outfit so that I wouldn't be looking so unkempt the next day since they had an unstable power supply.
I stumbled on an empty malt can in her room which she was just which she just drinking and then my wild mind told me suggested I take out the can tab.
As soon as I took the can tab out, I reached for two hangers in my bag and placed them in so, I created double cloth hangers with just one can tab.
I quickly went out in search of a nail and stone and as soon as I found one, I made the impossible possible, by hitting the nail on the wall and placing my two-piece outfit on two separate hangers on one nail, it was like a miracle for my cousin and her friends as they were in awe at how I had just saved myself from looking like I slept under the bridge before the interview and they both learned a great deal that night.
I am not so big fan of using too many skincare products to look flawless, as I believe in "less is more," having a cup of the Blue Seal Vaseline is enough for me wherever I go, the reason I love this Vaseline is because it's handy and aside that, it moisturizes my skin.
Little did I know that Vaseline is not just a moisturiser but also a lubricant for stuck zippers, as I was battling with my zipper on the pant trousers, my cousin's friend asked me to apply some Vaseline on the teeth of the zipper and give it time to sit in.
As soon as I did that, it didn't take me up to five minutes, the stuck zipper became so easy and free and I seamlessly zipped my pants and headed for the interview.
Ever since then, I never fail to carry my vaseline anywhere I go and when I am travelling, my can tab is always in my purse for emergency hanger purposes for they save me a couple of times.
