Avoid being the most intelligent person in your circle and avoid being the richest person as well OR try to avoid showing it (well they might still find out somehow? Haha well...)
School won't teach you that, but life will. It feels good to be the 'most'. Remember those days in school? Secondary school, perhaps, when you were the most intelligent among your friends? And during exams, everybody flocks around you. They always want to sit close to you because they know you have the magic wand. They know that if they forget anything, you, the human-textbook, is there to remind them. Nothing in this world can be compared to that feeling. Even if you're the 'ugliest' in the class, and everybody avoids you. Once it's exam time, they begin to reconsider their definition of ugly. Suddenly, you, the rejected stone, become the chief cornerstone. Automatically, you're the 'fine boy'. LoL. And then, you begin to smile sheepishly. All your crushes begin to crush on you. They drag who to sit by your right hand and left hand. Like the arm robbers hung with Jesus Christ in the good book, the Bible, they plead with you to remember them in your kingdom.
Feeling pumped, you say, 'Herein I say to thee, ye shall sit with me in paradise.'
Now, they will even buy zobo and Puff-puff to bribe you. When they are in need, they call you; left, right, and center. When you're the 'most' in your circle, people will draw from you. They will call you and you'll answer. You've been answering for ages. Suddenly, one equation skipped your memory. Just one question got messed in your head. You turn left to Nkechi to remind you the equation. "I don't know," she said. Fair enough. You still have right, forward and back to ask. You turn left to Mathew. Howfa Mathews. Abeg wetin be the formula for News writing. "Chai! I wanted to read that part oooo but I was rushing. Ask Blessing," he responded. You turn to your book crestfallen! You rack your brain. You could feel the formula in the tip-of-your-tongue; it's constantly speeding through your head but you can't place your hand on it.
You keep tapping your Biro on the desk to remember it.
Then, it dawned on you that you've surrendered yourself with suckers whom you cannot suck from. This is not a sucki-sucker relationship. No symbiosis! I mean, mutualism. Who shall you draw from in your days of need and want? Who? Avoid being the most intelligent person in your circle and avoid being the richest person as well. School won't teach you that, but life will. It feels good to be the 'most' until you're in need of someone to also confide in.
