Good day, amazing people of Hive Blockchain. Welcome back to my blog. It is another edition in the #hiveghana community. I am so delighted to participate in this week's prompt. Classroom.
Of a truth, school is a place we learn how to read and write. There are many things we don’t learn in school. There is some knowledge I acquired outside of the school environment that I wish I was taught in school about so that I would prepare myself for the challenges of life and how I will navigate life.
How I wish that school prepared us for the reality of life instead of just teaching us theories of life that are not of help! After I graduated from the high institution, I had to realise that the things I learnt from the high institution are different from real life. In school we only focus on that particular field of study. We always have this in mind: that school has prepared us to face the world. All we need to do is to go out and explore the knowledge we acquired in school, unknown to us that it is not how it looks.
How I wish school taught me the reality of life! It has not really been easy for me to navigate life. How I wish I were taught about how to avoid procrastination. Procrastination is really dealing with me on several bases. My boss has given me a query because of procrastination.
There was one email I was supposed to draft and send to our client every day. I will keep telling myself there is still time each time I wake up in the morning. I will be scrolling through the internet, watching videos and chatting online while I still procrastinate draughting the letter.
I will always tell myself I will do it; there is still time. I will do it today; I will do it tomorrow. When the deadline drew close, I was so anxious. I am always distracted by the colleagues at work and my siblings at home. The more I deny it, the more the work is so much for me. A day before I sent the email, you needed to see me so seriously. I was overworking myself; my heart was racing, sacrificing my sleep in order to meet the deadline.
I successfully submitted the email, but the quality of the email was low. Procrastination nearly cost me my work, and I was able to bring out my best because I was just rushing to deliver the email because I didn’t have time again.
To be honest, procrastination is really bad. How I wish they had taught us in school how bad procrastination is! While in school I got to realise that procrastination is a disease. It is high time they started teaching us about the reality of life rather than teaching us things we will not see in the future or will not help us in the future.
If I may say so, it will really be nice if one course is introduced in school where they will teach the reality of life, how to face it and how to overcome the challenges of life.
