Hello Everyone… Welcome to my Blog. I am so excited to participate in this week's prompt.
Going through the topics for this week's prompt I discovered they were very exciting and beautiful topics but I will be sharing my take on different parental perspectives.
This topic really got me because recently I have been having a thought about it. Like I see myself consciously saying that the things I couldn't enjoy or afford to get me a better life I will work hard to make sure my children get them. But this doesn't mean I will have to spoil them or prevent them from living their lives because I don't want them to suffer what I suffered.
Growing up was easier because my Dad did all he could to make sure we had the best in life. He always did his very best so we wouldn't need to struggle for anything but in the long run life became unfair to us we lost him. That was when we had to learn even at a tender age to start being responsible for ourselves. My mum on the other hand was trying her best too but we knew we also had to help her in order to survive.
Yes of a truth many people keep saying that they'll never let their children go through what they went through while others believe that once a child goes through certain hardships that's the only time the child will understand life. These are all correct because sincerely if we didn't lose our father and had to learn to start being responsible I wouldn't have discovered the kind of strength I had in me. I would have been able to stand up for myself. I am sure my decisions would have been decided for me by my father.
Although going through certain hardships has made me understand life, I am of the opinion that my children won't have to go through the same hardship I went through. I will make sure I make them understand life by teaching and talking about my experiences with them.
I will not be a mother that will do everything for my children, I will let them learn how to do most things on their own. Like in my instances when my Dad was alive he would drive me and siblings to school and pick us back, during external exams he would come around and try to see a way to make things easier for us.
But after we lost him. My mum that was now doing the providing didn't have much time to follow us around to do things for us she allowed us do things ourselves and it really helped because I can go to anywhere without waiting for someone to help me
In as much as we say we don't want our children to suffer, we should make sure they're given opportunities to explore life so that if they fail in making decisions they will learn from their failures and not all the time we parents keep deciding the children's life because we feel we don't want them to suffer. Provide your children the basic things they need and allow them explore life by themselves but just be there as a guide to them.
