Hospitality is a cultural value that we hold dear in Ghana here. It is common among all Ghanaian ethnic groups. When I heard about this topic, the first thing that came to mind was hospitality.
Hive is a social network, and like any society, it should have its core values. If I were to correlate Hive with Ghanaian culture, I would definitely relate it to hospitality. There are so many reasons to back my stance.
It is a convention, though not compulsory, that newbies on Hive write an introduction post to let the existing users get to know who they are and their expectations in Hive. I remember when I wrote my introduction post, several Hive users dropped advice on my post, and it has helped me a lot in my journey here. The support that newbies receive is always massive, and it only requires hard work on their part to succeed here.
There are newbie initiative tasks that are aimed at educating new users on the etiquette of the platform. This is a beautiful thing and shows how committed the Hive community is to helping new users succeed.
Even on other Web 2 platforms, if someone else wants to learn about the Hive chain, hivers are always ready to deliver. I remember recently when one Andrew Quinn on Twitter was having issues with the APY of HBD. Instead of responding negatively, @theycallmedan and other Hive users educated him with facts that disputed his claims.
In fact, Hive is the most hospitable Web 3 community. If Hive were to be a Ghanaian culture, then hospitality would have been it.
I am proud of the hospitality that is rooted in our Ghanaian culture. It is a value that makes us stand out, and it is also a value that you can clearly see in Hive. The hospitality of the Hive community is one of the things that make it unique and welcoming. It is a community that is always ready to lend a helping hand, and I am proud to be a part of it.
