When I am in a place where nature softly holds my attention, it can be so soothing. Recently, I was very lucky to be at a time and place that was so serene. The trees blowing gently, water surrounding, boats swaying gently, and people flowing with the peacefulness of the surroundings. In that moment, I was reminded of the power and beautiful effect nature can have.
I spent some time trying to capture a few scenes that spoke to me. Images that not only depicted a place but also a feeling. The calm of the water, the sun shining on the leaves, and the rhythm of life all caused me to pause for a moment. I’m not sure we often find ourselves in places like these, which makes me appreciate nature all the more.
I think there was something about the flow of everything. The boats were moving purposely and without urgency. The wind was gently pushing the trees alive. Young and old were standing and appreciating the joy of being in a peaceful environment. There were no distractions or loud noises. Just enjoying the simple pleasure of life as it was meant to be.
Being in places like these allows me to reconnect with more than nature. A sense of self. We often reflect in moments of calmness. We create space for appreciation. And we are reminded how our spirits need nature.
This might be in the gentle movement of trees in a gentle wind, or the quiet gliding motion of a boat on a calm-water surface. It might even be in the simple pleasure of people walking to just enjoy where they are.
I certainly feel lucky to have found moments like these to share with you. I hope we continue a dialogue with ourselves to help find time to be present and to find beauty all around us.
