It's my pleasure to once again participate in this week's prompt. I hope that my opinion on the topic will have a positive impact and bring a change of mindset on the topic.

I am yet to see any course or subject that is useless in the school curriculum. If they weren't important they wouldn't have been included as a course of study. The foundation of all society is built on education. Education is the key that unlocks the potential of citizens who, in turn, build society for the optimal benefits of everyone. Meanwhile, an easier way to destroy society and the people is to undermine and make a mockery of the education sector.

Therefore, undermining any course of study or subject is more like looking down on the importance of education in society. It is quite disappointing that some people think that some courses should be scrapped from our school system. According to them, those courses are not relevant in the present society. To them extant courses like, artificial intelligence, robotics, blockchain technology, cloud computing, coding and many others should be the focus of the school system. Some of the courses these people think are obsolete are those that can be replaced by artificial intelligence systems. Some of these are social sciences courses, religion, history, philosophy and others. What these people forget is that not everyone can study computer science or computer-related courses. Humans are passionate about things differently. One who decides to study horticulture, for example, is no less than another who studies medical science. It all boils down to what one is passionate about. Therefore in a case like this, scrapping some courses out of the school curriculum is like denying people the privilege to pursue their careers and indirectly putting on people what they wouldn't have done in normal circumstances.

All courses are important, it also depends on who's studying them. Some people are choosing a course so they can use the certificate and get a job. While some are taking up a particular course of study for the skill. Whatever the case may be, one thing is paramount, and such is knowledge. The primary purpose of education is to take away ignorance and fear. This is what makes education a necessity. Some courses might not seem appealing and solve extant societal trends according to some school of thought but one thing is paramount: it can transform learners from ignorance, fearfulness and indiscipline to a man of knowledge, a man who can make wise decisions and stand out from the public.

As I begin to wrap this up, people should avoid categorising courses on equations of importance and less importance. No course or subject is more important than. All of the courses in the education curriculum are important and very necessary for the total transformation of a person.
